His words were venomous, fueled by a long-festered anger. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. This man—this damned, rotten man—had finally come back and the first thing he’d decided to do was invite himself back into his life.
He said he knew what he’d done was wrong, but the words fell on deaf ears. Ed couldn’t bring himself to be nice enough to honor the man’s wishes, especially not when he was reopening an old wound with his very presence.
So his Eldest son didn't want him in his life after all. He knew the other wouldn't ever forgive him for what he had done. This actually hurt him more than he let on. He just wished he could take everything back so things didn't have to end up this way, so painful for the both of them. He really did care about Edward and Alphonse, it was just that he didn't want them to see him in this state.
He truly was a monster.
"I'm sorry that I couldn't be a Father to you, Edward... I know you'll never forgive me, but I really am sorry for the mistakes I have made. I just want you to know that no matter what I do love you, my son."
