If there wasn't a word like "Wizard" to describe Jeff Mills, it would be necessary to invent one. As a Detroit-based DJ in the early '80s, the man helped to open up the possibilities of a whole generation. "The Wizard", was a recurring guest DJ on "The Electrifying Mojo" radio show on WJLB where he perfected his skills on the decks with an assault of true turntable mastery blending, beat juggling, and scratching. Famous for his music's relentless pursuit of hardness and his stripped-down, almost industrial DJ sets, Mills is the latest in a long line of Detroit-bred talent to take on an international reputation. Jeff Mills has released a slew of albums, 12”, and even worked out some soundtrack music throughout the years. With Robert Hood, Mills set up the label Axis along with sub-labels Purpose Maker, Tomorrow, and 6277. To call Jeff Mills prolific is only scratching the surface of this multi-faceted forward thinking artist. To this day Mills continues to blow minds and elevate DJing with his impressive skills on three decks. Missing a chance to experience a truly innovative DJ like this would be a big mistake.
