Florence works for Oxfam in Juba, South Sudan, where a brutal civil war has created a catastrophic humanitarian crisis. She says: “What is happening in my country is sad,but I keep working to make a difference and try to build a better future for the coming generations." As deadly water-borne diseases put vulnerable people in even more danger, Florence saves lives by handing out water treatment kits and showing people howgood hygiene can help protect their families.
Grace says, "If you teach a girl, you teach the whole nation." But this poverty-beating idea is tough to get off the ground in Malawi, where 54% of secondary age girls like her are not in school. Watch the film to see how Oxfam supporters are using pedal power to help
Six months on since the start of the Rohingya crisis, Oxfam supporters have now reached more than 185,000 vulnerable people who have crossed over into Bangladesh with clean drinking water, toilets, and other life-saving essentials. But sadly, our work hereis far from over. Right now, we’re helping scared families pushed into poverty prepare for monsoon season –and the threat of flooding, landslides and disease that comes with it. With your help, our local teams will be there to help people survive it -and then rebuild their lives after the crisis is over.

Tim Walker, famous for his iconic fashion photo shoots, has brought his genius for fantasy to a special photoshoot for our online shop featuring Roger Hargreaves' Mr Men characters. Tim said: "It was an idea that came to me because I grew up with them - Mr. Men and Little Miss. They illustrated to me, at a young age, the variety of human behaviours and characters in a vivid way - there are all kinds of colours and characters of Mr Men and Little Miss and there's all kinds of clothes for all sorts of people that you can buy in an Oxfam shop. And they make people smile; the cause may be serious but you can still smile." http://www.oxfam.org.uk/shop
Playwright Polly Stenham recently gave up her time to model clothes from our online shop. She told us that she is drawn to pre-loved clothes because "in a world of mass merchandise, they have a story you don't get with new things."

A lot has changed since the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief was formed on this day in 1942. We are now a global movement of millions of people who will always act, will always speak out and won't live with poverty.
In 15 years, extreme poverty has been halved. In just 15 more years we can end it for good.
Thank you to all of our amazing supporters for being there for the world’s poorest people over the past 74 years.
