BETA READER WANTED

I wrote an MCU fanfic and I’ve been debating for a long time whether or not to publish it because it needs a lot of work

I’d really appreciate someone’s input as a beta reading and for bouncing ideas off of and stuff so if you’re willing to help please message me, if not, that’s fine too, but please could you reblog to spread the word!

I’m terrified of this culture I see on tumblr which dictates that if a person does something wrong, or makes a mistake, or displays a moment of ignorance they are trash and worthless and deserve to be torn to shreds. A human being does not stop being a human being because they said something stupid. The idea that we should all aspire to a very specific sense of social and ideological purity or we deserve to die is dictatorial and frankly frightening.

thinkin about my two hundred different embarrassing and completely self-indulgent daydream universes that i’ve actually taken time out of my day to create content for and have never shared with anyone bc they’re that embarrassing but not being able to stop bc they’re one of the few things that bring me genuine joy

sometimes i think that classicists are unfairly assumed to be pretentious but today one of my classmates in greek said that he stopped talking to a girl on a dating app because she called the mediterranean sea an ocean and i’m like, alright, maybe people have a point

other things i have to admit that classicists do:

  • pretty much every latinist i know has physically cringed at non-latinists pronouncing latin at some point in their life
  • i was at a conference with a bunch of latin teachers this weekend and they spent 20 minutes complaining about percy jackson
  • every classicist whose room or office i’ve ever been in (including my own) has had at least two busts in it
  • classicists have national meetups that inevitably result in having a roman banquet, sometimes where they only speak in latin
  • every classicist, whether they admit it or not, has thought about going to athens or rome and reciting some greek or latin OR has thought about participating in bacchic rituals
  • watch a classics-related movie with any classicist and within 5 minutes they’ll be complaining about what’s wrong (even if they’re in a movie theater) (yes, i’ve done this too. i’m not proud) (well, maybe a little bit proud)
  • people who study ancient languages definitely have a “we’re not like OTHER languages complex” and i swear to god i’ve actually heard those words from classicists’ mouths
