my soul left my body when biden looked into the camera while trump was shouting nonsense and said "do you all see what this clown is doing?"

This wonโ€™t be WW3. This wonโ€™t be WW1 or WW2. This wonโ€™t be an alliance of countries coming together, a war of drafts and rationing. There will be no Rosie the Riveter and no victory meats. No war bonds and no D Day. There is no holocaust to end and no ally country to liberate.ย

This will be another Iraq and Afghanistan war. This will be another Gulf War. This will be American drones bombing the shit out of innocent civilians half a world away so often that it wonโ€™t even be reported on. This will be American snipers committing war crimes you wonโ€™t even hear about. This will military recruiters going to your high school, promising your friends free college that they could never afford otherwise, this will be your classmates dying in a desert on the other side of the world. This will towns bombed into rubble and another million Americans with PTSD to be abandoned by the VA. Hundreds of thousands of dead civilians and another 50,000 vets homeless on the streets when they get back.ย

For what? For oil. For power. To make the American voter forget about Impeachment as the 2020 election cycle kicks in.ย

Donโ€™t let them do it.ย

not voting isnโ€™t refusing to play the game. Youโ€™re in this country, youโ€™re subject to the game whether you like it or not. The only way not to play is to leave, and the vast majority of us donโ€™t have that option.

Not voting is playing the game but saying โ€˜passโ€™ every time your turn comes up and then wondering why you lost.

Making young people not vote is actually a tactic used in politics to keep the satus quo. The young vote is always the one for change, so dissuading them from voting at all is actually a political tactic used by the people in charge to keep themselves there. Voting is rebellion.

Literally why would you ever go for Bernie when Elizabeth Warren is RIGHT there

A vote for Sanders is a vote for Trump. All he can hope to do is spoil the Demโ€™s chances.

VOTE BERNIE IF YOU WANT 4 MORE YEARS OF TRUMPย

FUCK THAT NOISE HELL NO.

We are not doing this again.

Lobby hard for your choice in the primaries, but do not insult the other options.ย

I like Warren a lot more than Sanders. I like Klobuchar and Harris better than either of them. Right now, Gillibrand is my top choice.ย

BUT I WANT TO BE ABLE TO VOTE FOR THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE IN NOVEMBER, whoever that turns out to be.

And since I want to be able to get behind them, I want to know what their good points are. I want to know what I can expect them to do, and - this important - what issues arenโ€™t on their top priority list, so I can let them know what matters to me.ย

All of them are smart, decent people. All of them want a better country, a better world. All of them would, on their worst day, be better than Trump at his best, assuming he has something a sane person could callย โ€œbest.โ€ย

No infighting this time. No circular firing squads. Do not insult, denigrate, discourage, or bully people who are supporting the candidates you dislike. WE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER FOR THIS.

Before the primaries, figure out who is the best representative for your interests, and promote the hell out of them. Encourage people to vote. Get people registered. Tell everyone why you like this one better than that one - based on policies and history, notย โ€œheโ€™s a lying scumbagโ€ orย โ€œshe caters to corporate greed.โ€ย

None of them is perfect. ALL OF THEM ARE BETTER THAN WHAT WE HAVE - do not help the Republicans (and the Russians!) suppress progressive voters by badmouthing other peopleโ€™s choices.

I donโ€™t want Sanders. I think heโ€™s too old (and so is Warren) and we need people whose understanding of business and social dynamics are based on recent trends. I think Sanders is too caught up in social class as the only real axis of oppression; I donโ€™t think he understands intersectionality. I worry that he favors gun rights more than is safe.

Iโ€™m not voting for him in the primaries. But if he gets the nomination, HE HAS MY VOTE IN NOVEMBER. And not in aย โ€œugh, holding my nose and voting against Trumpโ€ way - he wants medical care for everyone; he wants college to be available to all; he wants strong unions and worker support. I can get behind those policy plans.

No litmus tests this time. No single issue that convinces people to stay home in November 2020. Pick one you like, or pick a few that youโ€™re deciding between - but donโ€™t convince yourself that any of them are evil incarnate and must be stopped at all costs.

Because we have that. And Republicans know damn well that they only win elections by splitting and suppressing votes for Democrats - so theyโ€™ll be hypingย โ€œthis candidate is too terrible to vote for!!! Just stay home!โ€ for the next year and a half.
