I’m working on a Magnus Archives inspired scripted fiction horror podcast that runs with the idea that the “mystical POC” often relegated to side characters or exposition tools in horror media are the protagonists.

The main character is a Filipina who recently moved to Toronto and accidentally gets involved with helping two detectives solve supernatural cases because she stops a woman in her apartment building from getting killed by a supernatural entity

And her whole thing is that she was basically raised in a babaylan or shaman family in the Philippines and just kinda knows how to deal with this shit

And the conceit of the podcast is that everything you hear is recorded audio or phone calls, mainly that of her calling her Nanay or mother about her experiences saving people from the supernatural.

It’s called Hi Nay and I’m aiming for a Halloween release for the first few episodes 😊 I’m pretty excited! I wonder if people over here might be interested in it when it comes. A POC led horror podcast title with LGBTQ+ characters, which is par for the course for me, hehe.

People seem to be interested! Here’s the cover (not yet final) I’ll be using :D

I hope you’re all as excited for this as I am!

@bakunawaa thanks for asking! It’s for an international audience so it will primarily be in English but there will be words and lines in Tagalog and Taglish peppered throughout 😊 with translations provided in our extra content / transcripts

[Image Description:

The first image (the cover of the podcast) is artwork of a Filipina woman’s face in profile. She has brown skin and long black hair; her eyes are closed and she is holding a phone with a yellow screen to her ear. Behind her, buildings are silhouetted against a dark gray sky. The most prominent building is a tall tower, the top of which is overlaid with a red circle; inside the circle is a red triangle, and overlaying the triangle is a red line drawing of an eye. Underneath in yellow letters are the words “Hi Nay.”

The second image is a comment from tumblr user bakunawaa, asking: “will it be taglish/just english/just filipino?”

Adding the updated cover to this post!

I’d also like to mention for those who are interested, there’s a post under the #HiNayPod tag with updates as well as a full premise and some character descriptions!

Thanks so much for the continued interest! We’re working hard to get you good content 💖💖💖

This is the post that started it all! We are now on our third full episode and the fourth one is on the way. I hope you guys who have yet to listen to our series so far we’ll give it a try! Thanks so much for all the amazing support you’ve all given us so far 😊

Episode 4 is up! More info at the @hinaypod tumblr (UwU)

The story continues with whistling ghosts, ax murderers, and someone dramatic enough to play carillon bells at 3am for Drama~

I’ve realized my Ideal Outfit is this:

button-ups, high-waisted jeans, and Docs. You literally can’t go wrong.

it’s perfect. you can dress it up or down. it’s flattering on any body type. it’s the perfect amount of androgynous, and it even has Femme and Masc variants:

Right now I’m wearing a botanical print blouse I thrifted off etsy and it’s from the 90s so it has shoulder pads sewn in. fuckin sweet is what it is

Please help me heal my itchy body

Due to clinical negligence my life has fallen to shambles. Im suffering from a condition called Topical Steroid withdrawal which is completely preventable. Topical Steroid withdrawal is caused by abuse of topical steroids like cortisone which was allowed to happen because of neglect of warning from medical doctors about the proper use of creams like these.

Many people like me are suffering in silence because dermatologists are trained to deny the existence of this condition. There are many Facebook groups and forums of fellow sufferers. (Please feel free to research)

Even though I’m plagued with full body and other internal symptoms like adrenal fatigue and Irritable Bowel Syndrome, my family is still very dependent on me to pay bills and unfortunately we’ve fallen a bit behind. Due to my condition I’ve had to take time off of work which greatly diminished our household income. Proceeds would go toward catching up on our utilities and natural treatments to help treat my skin. Thank you for taking the time to read! God Bless You!

Facebook shares are also welcome! Also, than you to the 2 ladies that donated today ☺️

just realized that everybody probably thinks im a boy!?!? lol This is what i looked like in the beginning stages of my condition. Hair was thin, skin super itchy, but no rash yet:

Also: Please DO NOT use hydrocortisone on your child’s skin as a first resort!

my friend with eczema went through this and it’s awful. be wary of steroid creams and the doctors who prescribe them as a lazy fix-all

Suspect any doctor who’s just writing off prescriptions without educating the patient (this is one of your rights, as long as you’re capable of understanding and making informed decisions!), discussing any alternatives, and what other steps to take to treat or manage the condition.

Corticosteroids are powerful and nasty stuff the side-effects can be so dreadful. Same reason why folks on high doses of the stuff for asthma become so slow, easily-fatigued (even when their asthma isn’t triggered by exercise), and suffer from central obesity and moon facies. It’s not a diet thing, these things pack a punch and can fix one thing and mess up like ten other things.

hey guys! i now this post has i lot of likes, but i can still use some help. if all your able to do is share please do so we can spread the word about topical steroids! :)

More Weird Shit I Found in the Woods™.

Geometrically-challenged child cultists should have stuck with the triangles.

Is this real life Dipper Pines?

“oh look. Another mysterious stone path in the woods. 3 guesses where this leads.”

(at the end of the path)

“Listen. I know everyone wants to summon a demon at summer camp. I get it, I really do! But if you’re gonna try that shit just… put some effort into it. I mean look at this shit. IT’s just…It’s not even symmetrical. And look at this egg thing. It’s wildly disproportionate to the rest of it. It sucks! It objectively sucks! If I were a demon and I saw this, I would actually be offended. Try harder, kids. Try harder.”

someone should add one of those vintage “you tried” star memes in the shape of this

1)where do you get your will to live; did you inherit it or find it at a garage sale, 2)what can i draw to "comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable", 3)can i have a passion for pastel colours and fuzzy blankets and still consider myself to be sufficiently malicious

  1. I live in a world of ghosts, monsters, magic, and villainy. The work is incredibly hard and the rewards outpace my ability to dream. Being tasked with the research and publication of the lives (and afterlives) of such magnificent creatures and denizens – being a conduit to rush out into the world and say “MY FRIENDS! LOOK AT THESE AMAZING THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING IN THE NETHERWORLD! ENJOY THE FANTASTIC NEWS OF WONDER AND EVIL!” builds a contentment in my black heart too solid for despair to linger long.
  2. A fantastic question for an artist gazing into the void and wondering what to do next. I do not consider myself an artist, but this is largely an extension of “I don’t consider myself often.” I have dragons to comfort, monsters to hug, cursed gardens to tend, ghost stories to tell (to ghosts, to others), heroes to crush, villains to inspire, hench crews to teach… you get my point. I wish folk who claim the mantle of “artist” well, I am not terribly interested in most labels personally.
  3. Folk who come to take away your pastels, your fuzzy blankets, the soft things you are passionate about will fall to their hubris and their underestimation of you.
