Do you need to talk or anything? A night with me and my crazy 5 year old or like a day out? I will gladly take you out to lunch or something.
You know what, that actually doesn’t sound like a bad idea. I’m willing to take you up on that.

You’re not have anything negative going on, right? I’m just whining at the moment, as bad as that is.
I wouldn’t say any. I have my own issues on top of the holiday stress. Things suck financially and theres quite a bit on my plate.

If you’re on break it’s like things can pop up more easily. It’s convenient but it’s definitely not fun.

Yeah, thats very true. I can’t really argue with that. Especially when its on the negative end of “things popping up”

When I head “holiday break”, usually I anticipate actually having time to breathe. How wrong I was this time around…
Image
I feel your pain, theres never really a “break” during the holidays until they’re actually over. At least in my opinion.

Usually Pandora doesn’t steer me wrong but it’s letting me down today. Guess that means I don’t have to clean like I was going to

Really Aiden? I’m sure you’re capable of cleaning up without Pandora. Use Apple Music or Spotify if you’re dying to have music.

“Moment of truth for me or for the food? Say the food. I still have some time to make sure you want a second slash third date, right? I don’t want to send the food back but if it means buying myself more time, I will,” he joked. Eating didn’t take up much time and thankfully no one had an allergic reaction or any happenings that were too strange or embarrassing. “So…how did that go for you?”

Jordin looked at him through confused and squinted eyes, laughing a bit she shook her head “I was definitely talking about the food”  she nodded. After eating and finishing she pushed her plate away from her slightly. “It was good, you lucked out on picking this place because I have no complaints” she teased. Even if she did hate the food, she still enjoyed Aiden’s company the fact that she was able to enjoy both was just a bonus. “Was it as good for you as it was for me?”

“Not well, we can assume.” He shrugged, half smiling. “Pretty sure no one’s gonna want to date a doctor who has a preventable death in their dating history.” Jordin was definitely as awesome as she’d been described to him and he didn’t want to do anything that might dissuade him from dating her - he’d been on enough dud dates in his past. She made him want to work for the right to date her and usually he gave up on girls pretty quickly. He didn’t have time to deal with games and wishy washy feelings and it seemed like Jordin didn’t either so it could be really good for both of them. “Remember, if this place sucks…blame yelp.”

“Noted, I’ll be sure to write a review” she nodded “But who exactly can I blame if it turns out you suck? Theres not yelp for people... I guess I could just go back and yell at Aubree” she shrugged with a teasing smile. Jordin was enjoying Aidens company and actually found herself pretty fond of him, he was as cute as described and so far he seemed pretty sweet and not the douche she assumed he would be based off what was told to her by Aubree and their somewhat rocky start. Sitting and getting to know each other made time seem to go by quickly as their waiter brought out their food,. taking a look at it and then a look at Aiden she smiled “I guess this is the moment of truth”

“Alright well we’ll have to do our best to keep you away from shellfish. It’s hard to have fun on a date when you’re having an allergic reaction. It’s probably best if I’m around in case you do get hurt though. Med school is treating me well.” He winked at her, doing his best to make the drive to the restaurant quick while still following the laws. Once they were in and seated and had everything ordered, Aiden grinned at Jordin again. “Did I already say thank you for going out with me again?”

“Exactly, how would telling the story of how your date died on your second date go over?” she chuckled “I guess I should consider myself lucky to have a doctor in my presence then, or future doctor.” She smiled at him and shook her head, thinking the fact that he was so sweet and his reaction to their whole date was a little too good to be true, mostly because she was just used to something different. “You did say thank you, and I also told you that you didn’t have to thank me. Theres really no reason to”

“You plan out your instagrams, don’t you? Do you have designated posting times too?” he asked teasingly, his eyebrows arched. Heading out towards the restaurant he had found, he glanced over at her. “Are you opposed to trying new kinds of food? I found this hole in the wall fusion restaurant that has like 4 stars on yelp.” He paused, furrowing his brow slightly. “Don’t make fun of me for using yelp. I was deep in study mode for this date. Anyway, I guess it’s like a tapas bar, but it’s like choose your own flavor pan-Asian fusion food. It looks cool.” Glancing over at her again, Aiden showed her a quick smile before turning back towards the road. “Sound okay to you? If not I can find a backup.”

“I wouldn’t exactly say plan them, but there is a tiny bit of effort that goes into it.” she chuckled. Looking out the window as they drove her attention was soon back on him completely as he spoke again. “I’m not opposed to trying anything new aside from shellfish because I’m allergic.” She nodded “I told you that you didn’t really have to think so hard about all of this, I’m not judging you though I just hope you use yelp to find new places and you aren’t actually one of those people who leave reviews as if they’re some kind of food critic.”  she rolled her eyes and shook her head at the thought of some of the things people post on that particular website. “I’ve always though that dates were more so about enjoying the persons company rather than what you’re actually doing. So yes... that sounds great to me.”

Aiden grinned when Jordin answered, nodding. “Yeah, I figured I’d try not to screw this chance up. They say third time’s a charm but I’d rather just get it right this time around.” He stepped into her place and looked around as she got her stuff, doing his best to remember some of the things he’d seen so that he could try and discuss similar interests if their date got stale - but he was hoping that he wouldn’t have to go that route. He walked beside her when she left her home, his eyes trailing over her appreciatively as he spoke.

“I figured that we should do things pretty casually this time around since it’s only the second date, but I’m going to do my best to make it memorable for you. Wouldn’t want you to forget where you fell in love with me,” he teased, winking. “So I figured we’d go to have a nice chill meal at one of my favorite restaurants and then I’ll show you around the Baylands Nature Preserve. It’s pretty cool. Lots of birds and some gorgeous scenery. Do you instagram a lot? Because it’s great for that.” He asked, the grin still on his face as he led her towards his car.

Knowing that he wanted to keep everything casual, Jordin was glad she decided to go with a pair of form fitting jeans and a shirt that slightly showed her stomach. Turning to look at him she smiled, “You’re really confident about this whole falling in love with you thing.” she said as they’d reached the car and she climbed in. “I wouldn't say I do it alot... but just enough” knowing truthfully she had a sad addiction to the social network.

Aiden had definitely messed up when he had skipped five months in between texts to Jordin. Their first date had been casual, easy, and one of the best blind dates he’d ever been on. He had good reasons for not texting - interning at a children’s hospital, taking classes full time, and dealing with his hot mess of a twin brother among the reasons for his delay - but he knew that pulling them out would be a turn off. So instead, he did his best to try and convince her to give him a second chance. Thankfully, it didn’t take much convincing. After only a few days of talking, he was getting ready for a second date with her.

Dressed as nicely as he could be while still being casual, he made his way to Jordin’s and knocked on her door, hands in his pockets once he pulled his hand away. He had bigger plans for their date than he had originally let her in on, but nothing too extravagant. Doing his best to act like the person he really was rather than being the jerk he tended to come off as, he took a deep breath and waited.

Jordin thought that she was going to be done with Aiden, after taking five months to return a text or phone call or even contact her at all after their first date she was pretty sure that things were not going to progress after that. She’d just dealt with a bunch of inconsistency and crap while dating Hunter and she refused to let herself fall into that again. But Aiden seemed genuine and if it wasn’t for Aubree putting a good word in for him, she probably wouldn’t have given him another chance but she did.

She’d tried on 3 different outfits before picking the perfect and appropriate one and she’d just finished primping in the mirror before she heard a knock at the door. Quickly making her way downstairs she took a deep breath before opening the door. “Hey, I didn’t expect you to actually show up” she said, basically teasing him about his lack of communication before. “You can come in, I just need a quick second to grab my stuff” stepping aside to let him in, she ran back up to her room and grabbed her phone and her bag so that they could head out.
