It's funny, looking back at Kubo's early work, in 2 of his 3 one shots preceding Zombie Powder he has his a hero rescued by the girl with the same name as a lost lover and I can't help but wonder how long he was he holding that one in his back pocket in one form or another.

Zombie Powder itself also has what appears to be a proto-Unohana in the unnamed "witch" that Gamma met at some point in his youth. She appears with a mixed air of both mercy and menace to her, not unlike Unohana, and although she seems to be lightly implied to have been the source of his berserker mode, Gamma seems protective of her when she's insulted?
