when will the media stop pretending that every single girl has dreamt of her wedding since she was a little girl

I never imagined a wedding as a child and I felt like there was something wrong with me every time they would say something to the effect of “every girl has a dream wedding when she’s a kid!!” because I sincerely did not care

THIS! Also, did anyone (regardless of gender) actually imagine their wedding when they were a kid? I’m not judging, I’ve just never actually met a person who did. Hell, I’m an adult and I still haven’t given a wedding any actual thought, because I might never get married and planning weddings is not my type of hobby.

It’s just so absurd to have this stereotype, especially as it seemingly happens so rarely in actual life :U

I didn’t dream of a wedding growing up, but I started watching TLC as a teen and discovered that I love the excuse to throw a big ridiculous party exactly the way I want it - as I grew into being more ‘girly’ and developed my own sense of style, I’ve looked forward to it more, too. Also as I’ve gotten closer to that point in my life, I’m looking more forward to it. But I never dreamed of it as a kid.
