That season finale of Zoey’s was absolutely beautiful. Just perfectly and poignantly executed. I never thought that a musical comedy/drama could deliver such an emotional punch. I’m so so SO glad I gave this show a chance! If anybody hasn’t watched it yet, or is a bit iffy on the premise- it’s so worth your time. Praying that NBC gives this wonderful show another season because boy, does it deserve it.

iron man! transformers! king kong, star trek, the silence of the lambs! dozens of shameless war propaganda films barely disguising themselves as sci-fi or horror that were obvious enough even without this list! there aren’t any real surprises here but its worth a read

David L. Robb wrote a book called Operation Hollywood: How the Pentagon Shapes and Censors Movies. This Film is Not Yet Rated featured a little bit of an interview with him:

“The military and the film studios have colluded for more than 50 years. Anytime filmmakers want military assets - ships or tanks or planes - they have to give the Pentagon five copies of their script. And, if there’s anything in the script that’s negative, the Pentagon wants them to take it out. And so they negotiate, and take out any war crimes or foul language, or drinking. Anything that would make the military look bad. And than, after the agreement is made, the military sends a minder onto the set, when the film is being shot, to make sure it’s shot just the way they agreed. And then, once the film is completed, it has to be shown to the Pentagon, admirals and generals, before it’s shown to the public. Dozens of films have not been made because they couldn’t get military assistance. So, people have no idea what they’re not seeing.”

So I fully know no one cares about this but I need somewhere to rant and this is my place so hush

Spoilers ahead btw for The Kissing Booth 2

I just watched the kissing booth 2 and like it was actually better than the first. Was it filled with cringe and second hand embarrassment that had me having to pause and debate my life decisions, oh yeah definitely. But it did have its moments.

I hated Chloe for like all of the film and I know that u shouldn’t have because she’s a woman and it’s that whole thing about women blaming other women for the man’s cheating and hating her for it but excusing him and I fell into that trap. Don’t get me wrong I despised Noah for the majority of it too and wanted to throttle him up until like the last 15 minutes. And I know this is evil but I kind of did want Noah to be cheating because I simply wanted to see Molly Ringwald tear him a new one for doing so, but you know we make do with what we get.

Also shout out to Elle’s dad for death-staring Noah for like the entire Thanksgiving dinner because that was a gem I didn’t know I needed.

Honestly I do think Elle made the wrong decision by picking Noah over Marco because like he lacked soooo much communication, and I related to Elle hard because I always think the worst (hello trust issues) and he was so bad at communicating. And Marco was just the sweetest and didn’t show any of the really problematic issues that Noah had in the first film.

I really loved when Elle gave that speech about going to save something that was worth it at the Thanksgiving dinner and went to talk it out with Rachel cause I was fully expecting her to go to Marco and get with him, but no she did what Chloe didn’t do and assuage the fears and apologise you know. Granted Chloe did do this but she could have done this farrrr earlier when she first knew it was a problem, Elle stood up and bit the bullet as soon as she knew her behaviour and presence was being perceived as an insecurity and issue to the relationship.

Also I’m so happy that Lee and Elle remained friends and weren’t made to be in a romantic relationship because girls and guys can be friends!! Stop saying they can’t, and that there’s always a sexual attraction involved 😫

Overall, funny film. Got a few little gems that I really appreciated but it wasn’t anything mind blowing, but would probably watch again if I was bored and out of ideas.

I Am Unashamed to Say I Like ‘The Kissing Booth’

Like, it’s trash and cliche and an unrealistic love story but it’s also just a fun couple of movies? I live for the friendship and chemistry between Elle and Lee. It’s the best. And watching the bloopers and seeing the silly stuff is just the lighthearted shit I need in this world.

SO YEAH. I LIKE THE KISSING BOOTH. IT’S GOOD SHIT.
