Dungeon Master Essentials

I decided to make a list of DM stuff that I personally use or think are important to know when it comes to being a DM. So here’s my list:

Medieval Fantasy City Generator: This generator is now my LIFE. It generates incredibly complex cities with good customization. (Thanks to plantkat for sharing this site in their post here)

Naming Your Towns/Cities: Now that you’ve made your city, time to name it and give it some character! This post contains lots of great information.

Index Cards Rule: Fuckyeahdnd shared a SUPER convenient way of keeping track of turns and HP in combat. I use this system now for every single session I run.

Tricks & Traps: I am AWFUL at coming up with good Dungeon traps and challenges, this PDF includes some incredible ideas. The original poster, Courtney C. Campbell also runs a blog where they share tons of great stuff. (Thanks to we-are-rogue for sharing the PDF in their post here)

Playing Different Types of Characters: Writeinspiration has a masterpost on how to write/play lots of different types of characters.

Unique NPC Jobs: Lauraharrisbooks wrote a list of different Fantasy Jobs which can help populate your world with some unique characters! Another similar post by Thewritershandbook also covers Common Occupations in the Middle Ages

Developing Characters by Threes: Monticusrex’s method of creating characters help you really flesh out who they are. Useful for Players and DM’s.

Troublesome Players? Speak Up: Dicebound brings up an incredibly great point. If someone is being a jerk, speak up and call them out. This is especially important and relevant now to crush awful behavior before it even has a chance to show it’s ugly face.

List of D&D Resources: And finally, pretty much anything you might need for D&D.  (Character stuff, spells, online communities/ways to play, etc..) A lot of people contributed to this post but thank you Mushroomancy for posting the original list.

Donjon: And finally, this site is a great resource for looking up Spells and Monsters along with tons of other generators. Not every single Spell or Monster is on here, but most are listed.

(I tried to give credit to the original posters or the actual URL for websites, unless those sites or URLs were no longer active)

I want a realistic apartment-building-pianist au where they play with the window down sure and everyone loves listening to them but they're also still learning so everyone hears them repeat the exact same 4 measures fifteen times before giving up and playing some other part of the song with aggressive gusto just to make up for it. Or the times where they keep getting the notes wrong just because, you know, learning, so they're playing the beginning part of a piece gorgeously and then they hit the hard middle and everyone just hears some wonky notes in the middle of an arpeggio and it makes you wince and the pianist has to go over it a couple times and the apartment complex always knows when the pianist is fed up because they'll hear them switch mid-way to a good classic song they can play by heart and then no more sound for the rest of the night.

I want that au

Podcast about generation 1.5 children ideas?

Hey everyone! So quick gist: I was born in the Philippines but moved to America at the age of 1 and was raised up here by pretty traditional, religious parents.

Now, being a child of the current society, I'm sure you can guess that that lifestyle is pretty difficult.

I have a podcast in mind to discuss what it's like being what I and my family consider 'Generation 1.5': where you're born one place and raised in another, or raised by parents essentially straight off their motherland.

Current society vs the culture and lifestyle your family presses on you, it can be quite pressuring!

So in regards to topics and content people would like to hear/ask about, have me discuss, or simply want to hear reassurance on, what are your thoughts?

Send them in and I'll start compiling!

Generation 1.5: the podcast about growing up in two different worlds

Hey everyone! So I posted the idea concept of this podcast earlier (literally the post right before this if you want to find) and I'm happy that you guys seem interested in it!

Generation 1.5: Born there, grown up here or raised up by born-there parents.

Some of you have shared some thoughts on what you'd like to hear about and here's a list of some talking points, and I'd love if you guys sent in some more! So that i can have an idea of what else to say :)

Talking points

- language barriers

- feeling out of place

- outside home vs inside home

- culture/tradition/ideals clash

- identity: which to identify as?

Thank you so much for these! And I'm sure I could definitely keep branching out.

What else would you guys like to hear or discuss or even ask about? Send them in or reblog with a comment so I can keep compiling!

Hey everyone! I’ve got a short story that I’d absolutely love some feedback on.

It’s the backstory written as a story log of a man known as the Doctor, who is an arcane puppeteer and blood-magic user, who runs a town full of living, breathing corpses that he simply has control over by blood, hence the title.

If anyone’s interested and is willing to give it a read, I’d appreciate it!
