You can eat all the veggies you want and work out as hard as you ever have, but if your mind isnāt healthy then youāll never feel right.Ā
let me rephrase this a little for my neurodivergent kin out there:
your body and brain need each other. you need to take care of that brain of yours too. you know which one. the one you think isnāt deserving of being healthy because of all the horrible things your illness/disorder says about you. the one you think is broken beyond repair. Ā itās not. those veggies you eat as a snack instead of cookies, that fruit you eat on the way to work, that froyo smoothie you get with your lunch, your body - and your brain - will thank you for the fuel. itās not The Solution, and medicine and therapy and group and all of those resources should come first in your mind because no one gets through sickness without help, but in between, i promise you youāll feel a little better when you wake up in the morning because you gave your brain that little extra bit of vitamins, calcium, protein, anything you can.
this Black History Month I hope my fellow white women are remembering the ways in which weāve benefited from and been complicit in racism and black oppression.
white men demonized black men by portraying them as sexual threats to white women. whether people actually believed this or just liked having an excuse, it means that countless black men and boys were beaten and murdered in the name of protecting white women.
it wasnāt just men who took part in this. in 1923 a white woman claimed that a black man beat her, and with exactly zero evidence the white men in her town started a mob that destroyed Rosewood, Florida, and left an unknown number of black people dead. to this day there isnāt an accurate count on how many black victims there were, but some people estimate it was as many as 150.
Ā white suffragettes actively excluded and rejected black women, and used black men as a prop to try and convince white men that white women should be able to vote. they played on the image of black men as scary threats to white womenās safety, and argued that letting white women vote would help cancel out black votes. there was no such thing as solidarity.
this is our legacy as white women. we need to do our research, acknowledge what weāve done, and do better. support Black Lives Matter, support Standing Rock, support immigrant and refugee women. we need to stop being complicit.
Eating Disorder Recovery Safe Blogs Checklist
I realized a lot ofĀ āRecoveryā blogs on tumblr are, in fact, not safe for people who are in recovery, so i made a checklist and maybe it helps someone else, too.Ā
- Is the blog using the wordsĀ āpro anaā in their description, tags etc.?Ā
Itās not safe. Stay far, far away from those blogs. Block them. Report them. Pro ana meansĀ āpromoting anorexiaā. Those blogs actively encourage you to sabotage your own recovery, even if they claim they donāt. They glorify and romanticize eating disorders and thatās the least thing you need now. Stay away.Ā
- Does the blog refer to eating disorders asĀ ādietsā?Ā
Not safe. Theyāre portraying eating disorders in a wrong and dangerous way.Ā Even if they say itāsĀ āa diet for people with mental health problemsā or similar, theyāre lying. An eating disorder is NEVER a diet. Itās an serious, complex mental illnessĀ that negatively affects yourĀ physicalĀ andĀ mental health. Blogs who make them seem harmless wonāt help you recover.Ā
- Does the blog give advice on how toĀ āsafelyā restrict your calorie intake, suppress your appetite or fast?Ā
Not safe! There is noĀ āsafeā way to have an eating disorder. Recovery is not about clinging on to your disordered habits in theĀ āsafestā way, itās about learning healthy habits. Those blogs will trigger you, stay far away from them.Ā
- Are there a lot of numbers (weight, BMI, calorie intake)?
Knowing exactly how low someone elseās BMI was (even if itās higher now), can trigger you or make you think of yourself asĀ āfatā, so itās not safe.Ā

Are Rollerball Fragrances Better Than Bottles?
Let us (re)introduce you to the humble rollerball. Although they may not look as pretty as your perfectly crafted bottle of artwork from Marc Jacobs, the benefits make them worth it.
Whilst fragrance is something that is subjective, there is one thing that they all have in common: they work best when applied to the pulse points. The pulse points are essentially as the name suggests, places on your body where you can feel your pulse. Applying fragrance to these areas allows the notes to really deepen, expand, and help the fragrance to connect more deeply with the wearer. The blood pumping helps warm up the fragrance, allowing each note to expand and the base notes to come to a head quicker. All of this gives the fragrance the opportunity to fully develop and reach its full potential.
Rollerball fragrances have many benefits, but the best one of all is they allow you to have a more controlled dosage of fragrance, giving you the ability to concentrate the scent onto the pulse points. By targeting the fragrance and only applying what is needed, you let the fragrance provide a subtle scent that doesnāt overpower. This method of fragrance application means your bottle of expensive fragrance is likely too last longer as less of the product goes to waste, (making it a more cost effective option than a full bottle)
