  Ric rolled his eyes as soon as she spoke, he knew that sarcasm anywhere. “And there you go, ignoring everything I say.” He tapped his fingers on the table, contemplating ordering a drink. He would need ten times the normal amount of alcohol to put up with Isobel. “Does it look like you were the reason, Isobel?”

"I could be," she answered.  "Even if you don't think it's the reason, in the back of your mind you know it's the truth."  Do you miss me even a little?  Isobel wondered to herself, not voicing what she wanted to tell him.

She beemed at the sight of her beloved sister and maid of honor. Hayley had adored her sister until she ran away from home due to her teen pregnancy. Then in their older years they had become inseparable. Only problem was Isobels work and research for Duke always kept her busy traveling all over the country. “True you haven’t met him yet officially. We’ll have to remedy thar tonight. That’s what you get for flying in right before the wedding and missing the rehearsal dinner. ” she teased “I’m glad you’re here” (human au? Idk)

"I had work," she replied.  "You know that.  But Hales, this is your day.  You're not supposed to be worrying about me, you're supposed to be worrying about you.  Now, where's Mom and Dad?" Isobel asked.  "They don't know I'm here yet, either."  She ended up taking a cab from the airport to here, and changed while in the car.  Hey, she wasn't the first girl to do it, and she wasn't going to be the last.  "Besides, if I weren't here, you'd kill me," she laughed.

  “Isobel, that’s the difference between you and I.” He shook his head before taking another sip of bourbon, he was going to need it if he and Isobel were to continue this chat. “I don’t want our paths to cross and I’d rather keep our roads separate from each other. Unless that’s a foreign concept.”

"Uh huh."  She ignored his comments.  "So--and I know you're going to protest my asking, but I'm gonna do it anyway--what made you decide to move here?  This is my hometown, after all."  Whether he liked it or not, Isobel knew she was part of the reason Alaric made his way to Mystic Falls.

Hayley smiled softly as the person came in to her changing room. She had been dressed for hours too nervous but was now trying to perfect the hairdresser’s job on her hair. “Could you pass me that bobby pin?” the bride asked with a smile. Anyone except Tony was more than welcome to come talk with her. Most of her family and bridesmaids were off checking everything was ready so she could use a change in company.

But it wasn't the hairdresser that walked into the bride's room.

"Actually, I came to check on you.  That is, if it's all right with you," said a familiar voice.  She picked up a stray bobby pin from the dresser's supplies and handed it to her sister.  "Well," she said with a sigh, "this was quite a surprise.  I figured everything would fall into place for you eventually."

    He rolled his eyes, typical of him and his interactions with Isobel. Ric rubbed his hand over his eye and down his face before letting his hand rest on the table. “Do I honestly look like I’m in a mood to talk?”

Isobel shrugged, not budging from her spot.  "You never are, but since we happen to be in the same town, our paths are bound to cross sometime."

Ah, memories.

"At school" she looked up at her eyes welled with tears.

"Well, you'll go get her later, right?  Why don't you take her out for the weekend?  Disney World or something.  Would she like that?"  Isobel shrugged.  "I'll pay for it if you want."  Both of them  needed some normality right about now, and she was bound to meet her niece eventually.
