It’s also wild for them to say that when Japan, Korea China and Taiwan have robust film industries. Like that is objectively u true because over a billion people are watching,creating, and performing in expressive media. Like racist is a hell of a drug for them to say that.

Diana Huey says she tries not to get upset about by criticism from Disney fans upset about the casting of an Asian American as Ariel, a role they expected to be played by a white woman.

“In more cosmopolitan regions it might be surprising that Huey’s casting as Ariel would raise any eyebrows at all. That has been the incredulous reaction of “Mermaid” director Glenn Casale, who said he cast Huey in the role for one simple reason: She was the best singer.
“She was a good actress, she was the right age, she sings it like nobody else,” said Casale, best known for directing Cathy Rigby in “Peter Pan.” “We probably saw 50 Ariels, and Diana really sang it the best.”
Squeaky Wheel Film and Media Art Center Executive Director Maiko Tanaka, who is Japanese Canadian, had a similar response when asked to comment on the controversy.
Tanaka phrased her response in the form of two questions and a terse statement: “1. Can she sing? 2. Can she dance? 3. It’s a friggin’ mermaid.””

I’m part of the DACA program and I don’t know why people on this website are not talking about this issue

What Is DACA?

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is a kind of administrative relief from deportation. The purpose of DACA is to protect eligible immigrant youth who came to the United States when they were children from deportation. DACA gives young undocumented immigrants: 1) protection from deportation, and 2) a work permit. The program expires after two years, subject to renewal.

What Are The Requirements For DACA?

  • You were under 31 years old as of June 15, 2012;
  • You first came to the United States before your 16th birthday;
  • You have lived continuously in the United States from June 15, 2007 until the present;
  • You were physically present in the United States on June 15, 2012 and at the time you apply;
  • You came to the United States without documents before June 15, 2012, or your lawful status expired as of June 15, 2012;
  • You are currently studying, or you graduated from high school or earned a certificate of completion of high school or GED, or have been honorably discharged from the Coast Guard or military (technical and trade school completion also qualifies); and
  • You have NOT been convicted of a felony, certain significant misdemeanors (including a single DUI), or three or more misdemeanors of any kind

Also, DACA recipients pay taxes and are NOT eligible for any federal public benefit, including federal financial aid, food stamps or housing subsidies. We do not collect welfare benefits of any sort.

Please, please pray for the Caribbean.

Hurricane Irma is currently at category 5 with winds at 185 mph and worsening every three hours or so. It’s destined to hit the islands and absolutely cover Puerto Rico, so one can only imagine the damage it’ll cause to the Islands. Not one bit of Puerto Rico will manage to avoid the rains and winds of this massive, record breaking phenomenon.

It is, quite literally, the biggest hurricane these islands have faced. The largest before was in 1928 and, while also being a category 5 hurricane, had winds literally 20-25 miles slower than this one. Irma seems to only be getting stronger and is sure to bring catastrophic events worse than even Harvey.

So, please, keep us in your thoughts and prayers. ❤️

I’m gonna tell y'all about my Shame™ so you don’t feel so bad about your own dumb moments

So I went to kcon ny with my little cousin Tyler in june And we got hi touch for up10tion. And like I like them a lot? Twice and up10tion were the main reasons I wanted to go, so when we got the hi touch I was pumped So like. I fucking love bitto and sunyoul. Bitto has the face of a 4 year old and the voice of a 40 year old and sunyoul’s voice makes angels cry that is a fact So we get up on stage for the hi touch and like at least two of the members think it’s cute that my cousin is there and I’m like super proud, nothing can bring my mood down blah blah blah So I get to bitto. And I look him right in the eyes. And with way too much intensity. I tell him I love him. Now I’m a good 6 years older and have a good foot on the boy. My head is shaved and my hair is pink. I’m built like a wall. He said “thanks” but looked a bit scared?? Idk So I get to sunyoul and the same thing is said but he’s just like “it’s nice to meet you” in return and I’m like FUCK I FUCKED UP but here’s where it gets bad So like. Wei had ripped his pants during charades prior to the hi touch And he’s the last in line A friend of mine sent me a link to a livestream someone did of the whole thing

With his head in his hand Because i gestured grandly at the mans crotch. And my friends are now calling me pants girl and I hate everything And like I KNOW HOW TO SAY IT IN KOREAN I COULDVE SAID IT IN HIS NATIVE LANGUAGE. I LITERALLY COULDVE SAID ANYTHING ELSE. I COULDVE NOT *GESTURED AT HIS MOTHERFUCKING GROIN* But this is the reality I have to live in now
