I’ll do some little do - overs which I haven’t done yet bc it was ok the way it was (some of the self made feather laces were sewn on by hand because my machine died on me at 3 am)

Ser Pounce A Lot proudly bringing Anders dead birds that he’s killed as gifts

Anders being grossed out, but Pounce is so pleased with himself and it’s a gift, he can’t just throw it away

Anders taking a few feathers from every bird to hang on to, to show Pounce he appreciates it, and holding onto them

the Wardens making Anders give up his cat and Anders shutting himself away and curing up and reaching for the feathers in the back of his drawer to run his fingers through for some measure of comfort, because they’re all he has left of his cat

Anders spreading the feathers out around him and finding himself using magic to tie them all together and turn them into a collar

Anders wearing a reminder of Pounce everywhere he goes

Do you think you'll put up more of your Dragon Age art as prints? For example, I really liked the Varric one!

Hello! Yes, I’m planning to upload most of them as prints, little by little ♥ The Varric one is already available - if you’d like any others to be up for S6 prints/merchandise, let me know! Also, there is a special promotion now in my store: Free Shipping + $5 OFF the All-Over print tees, only going through the link. Must say, those all-over print tees look quite nice:

There. Thanks for your interest, glad you liked the pic :D

The Enigma of Kirkwall

You know the single thing that bothered me most about DA:2 (besides Ali and Zev’s hideous mutant faces)?

The Enigma of Kirkwall–not its existence, but the fact that this thing, this seemingly REALLY VITAL piece of information was all but abandoned, thrown in as a really difficult little side treasure hunt with no quest marker and no incentive.  I personally never came close to finding all the pieces.  And yet:

“The mages of Kirkwall have a more troubled history than those in other Circles. A greater percentage of them do not survive the Harrowing, and a greater percentage turn to blood magic—almost double that of Starkhaven or Ostwick.”

“The blood of countless slaves was spilled beneath the city in sacrifice. Whole buildings were built upon lakes of blood. The sewers have grooves where blood would flow, all leading down. The scale is hard to fathom.”

“Beneath the city, demons can contact even normal men.”

So, like, DA:2 is the story of one incredibly fucked-up city, and THIS IS WHY it’s fucked up, and that’s not relevant info?  And the whole conflict is mage v. templar and the only reason it’s remotely morally grey is because well honestly you trip over blood mages and abominations every time you try to have a quiet piss in an alley, so after a while you start to feel like maybe even Meredith has a point, but THIS IS WHY.  Probably nobody should try to live in Kirkwall, much less mages, and yet these codices are probably only found by the most rabid completionists.

Bah.

I saw a fanfic once that took the Enigma of Kirkwall to mean that it was the site the Magisters used to breach the Golden City. Which… makes a terrifying amount of sense.

Old Tevinter city? Check.

Impossible, incomprehensible amounts of blood sacrifice- aka, an amount of magical power likely never gathered before or since? Check.

And the weakened Veil and generally demon-rich atmosphere might be because of all the ritual death… but it certainly doesn’t rule out the Veil being ripped open and the Fade corrupted from that point outward.

I also remember something about the city being built in the shape of a sigil or some such? But I’m not sure if I’m mixing up canon and fanon there.

(And yes, for Andraste’s sake, just move the Maker-damned Circle out of Kirkwall. It’s not like the Chantry/Templars don’t have access to the statistics!)

Yeah, that was pretty much what I thought.  Here are some more quotes:

“Many ancient cities specialized in arcane research, but why did Kirkwall hide its efforts here? Why go to such great pains to keep it out of sight? Were they a cabal of renegade magisters? Or was this a special project of the archon?”

And the one you were thinking of:

“The mason showed me a plan of the city, and my heart skipped a beat. There were patterns in the intersections, back alleys, and boulevards. Some magisters believed in the power of symbols or shapes. In the oldest parts of the city, one can make out the outlines of glyphs in the very streets! What manner of magic is this?”

So.  Definitely, Kirkwall was built for something HUGE.

And considering the fact that Corypheus is imprisoned nearby, the chance of Kirkwall having been the site of the assault on the Golden City kind of goes up. Corypheus seems like the kind of dude who would be hanging around trying to figure out what went wrong, so he could do it right, the next time, I mean… INQUISITION?

And regardless of whether that’s accurate, consider also the other ritual involving blood magic and lyrium that we know happened in the area: the binding of Malvernis. An enormous amount of lyrium and the blood of a hundred warriors what?

Also, there’s some buzzing in my head that I can’t quite put together, involving Malvernis, red lyrium, and Kirkwall.

Speaking of Legacy, some relevant codex:
