OTHER THINGS
1. Please don't hesitate to tell me if I ever reblog or post something you find upsetting or offensive. I try my best to tag for spoilers and content warnings, but if I forget or heck up, or if you need me to tag for something specific, just drop me a line. 2. While this is primarily a fandom blog, I do also regularly use it as a space for feminist commentary and LGBTQ discussion. This is meant to be a safe space for those things, and if that makes you uncomfortable, you probably shouldn't be following me.

For those that aren't in Australia right now, we have the funniest scandal going on.

Firstly let us introduce you to the eye of the storm: Sam Kerr. Sam is a women's soccer player who has in the last year become one of the most famous and beloved athletes in Australia. Captain of the women's national team, Sam became something of a cult figure after the last Women's Soccer World Cup became a complete unpredicted sensation in Australia, with the whole country getting behind the team.

Sam, up until now, has had probably one of the most squeaky clean images in sport. Generally in Australia it is not uncommon for our sports stars to be caught up in scandals involving drugs:

violence:

drinking their own urine:

or if you're cricket legend Shane Warne, probably all three at once.

Contrasting all this, Sam's image as the squeaky clean saviour for sport made it all the more shocking this last week, when it was announced that Kerr was to face trial after having been charged by the UK police of a "racially aggravated offence" involving a taxi driver.

This was shocking news. Nobody knew what to make of it. Sam was a model for young girls everywhere and a national treasure. "This is why we can't have nice things" screamed the nation. It seemed like all hope was lost.

That is, until, yesterday, when the UK police finally revealed the full details of the case, in which Sam Kerr, sporting legend, was arrested for vomiting in a cab, and then telling an intervening police officer that he was a “stupid white bastard”.

Now we probably don't need to point out that in Australia, vomiting in a taxi and then calling a cop a bastard is about as close to a national culture as we have.

You could not have come up with a better headline to make someone a national hero.

Needless to say, Sam in now being hailed down under as the greatest legend that ever lived, and a petition has already been started to have her picture added to the $5 note.

The tide has swung so far that not one, but TWO, state Premiers have spoken out in support of Kerr, and the Prime Minister has even gone on the record describing her as "a delight".

And so ends the racial abuse saga of our greatest sports hero of all time, and the very first reverse milkshake duck to ever exist.

Really, our only complaint, nationally, is that she should've called the cop a cunt.

How remiss of us not to include any pictures of the legend herself

If people are sad about The Wizard Facism game coming from someone you used to look up to and admire, may I suggest an author whose books are filled with nuanced characters and strong, dynamic women?

Tamora Pierce has been writing since the 80’s and has two worlds of magic and fantasy and bonus!!! Isn’t a transphobic POS.

I have met the woman and she is delightful. She rescues cats.

And when you're done with her books, or perhaps while you're reading her books, Diane Duane! Who has also been writing door decades and has excellent portrayals of all manner of diverse characters!

Tamora's readerships and mine cross over in whole a lot of places, and I'm delighted by the connection. And proud to stand with her.

Man, Felony was really mowing down every last piece of non-TV series established lore about Thrawn and the Nightsisters, wasn't he? That man has NOT read a single bit of any of it and he does not care!!! Thrawn not only met Anakin Skywalker during the clone wars, but knew he became Vader? Not on Felony's watch! You'd think Merrin would have known about an ancient homeworld of the Dathomiri instead of feeling like she was the literal last of her kind? Felony, take the wheel! Like, the man does NOT give a single solitary shit about trying to connect anything together and maybe we can squint and say, well, maybe Merrin assumed they were dead, well maybe Thrawn just didn't know about Ahsoka, but like. It is very clear that all the supplementary material does not mean squat to Davegate Stanakin Felony and we just have to learn to roll with that.

Zelda is right. Return the rights. They're taking off all this shit for tax purposes and so that they don't have to pay residuals but worse than that, for a great deal of projects, they also own the rights meaning these projects can never be available anywhere else.

the kananposting continues. please compare these two images.

these are meant to be the same character. the first is caleb dume, right before order 66, in the now-retconned comic backstory for kanan. the second is a pic of caleb dume i grabbed off twitter of his surprise bad batch cameo. i’ll cut the second one some slack - it’s a picture of a screen, since d+ makes it impossible to take screenshots, so naturally it’ll be washed out. but i just went and took a look at the episode, and honestly it’s not much lighter than the pic. a little more color, maybe, but nowhere near the shade we’ve seen before. plus, the lighting of the first picture is at night, illuminated by a campfire. so here’s some of caleb in broad daylight in his comic flashbacks.

you see why this is a problem, right? in a show where there have already been numerous critiques about whitewashing? lest we forget, here’s what kanan looks like in rebels

like. this is a problem, and a consistent one at that. yes, young kanan’s skintone wasn’t quite the same in the comics than it was in rebels, but at least he wasn’t as pale as obi-wan. they’ve also completely changed features like his nose, which i guess could be explained by caleb not having broken his yet, but nonetheless. filoni’s content, especially the bad batch, has a problem with whitewashing and it needs to be addressed by more of the fanbase.

Hi sorry to be annoying but r u still making art?

Not annoying! I am still making art but I’m not posting a lot of it online at the moment. I moved interstate three years ago to attend animation school and I’ve been pretty flat out with that. I haven’t really been drawing anything except school assignments for the last three years, which doesn’t really make for great content, I’m so sorry! I just finished up with my grad film, so if there’s something you’d like or that you want to see, drop me a line and I’ll see if I can get back into the swing of fandom things again, haha!
