And I mean in the serious sense, not when you’re joking around or saying it lightheartedly. Kpop should not consume your life to point that you stop living your own. It shouldn’t consume you to the point that you start thinking you have the RIGHT to make decisions for idols who are adults and capable of making their own. Yes it should make you happy and sometimes yeah, it can cause pain, but it shouldn’t be your ONLY happiness in life. You know why? BECAUSE THEY’RE PEOPLE TOO. Just like you, they have hopes, feelings, and dreams and for many of them that probably includes more than just the fans. It includes family, friends, significant others and a family of their own. If you get to date, get married, and have kids, so do they! Idol-fan relationships, though special and meaningful, are not the only relationship you should have in your life. Kpop should make you happy but it shouldn’t be your only source of happiness because I’m positive it’s not their only one.
***Update: I didn’t expect this to be so popular and I’m embarrassed😂 However, this was mostly in response to the backlash from Chen’s announcement. Kpop can be a solace for many people (it has been for me many times) but don’t become so obsessive that you’re trying to control others life or you’re being toxic.****
