Pinned under the fiery heat of her gaze, Mamoru forced himself not to shift about like a wayward child being reprimanded by an upset parent. This was new. It wasn’t every day that he had a patient hissing at him like a caged and angry tomcat, but that was the wonders of his chosen profession. No two days were ever the same, which was a terrifying thought in a way since he wasn’t even a doctor yet, merely a student trying to accrue enough volunteer hours to look impressive on his med-school application.
“If you mean I don’t really work here, then yes, that’s actually true.” He swallows his apprehension and is by her side, braced for any physical backlash if she took his proximity as a threat, that happened a lot with some patients. They took being hurt as a sign of weakness and lashed out at their caretakers, but he couldn’t risk her taking a spill out of fear of being hit either. Her injuries were extensive and distinctive enough that he recognized her from her charts, which also meant that he knew precisely how much trouble she’d been giving the rest of the staff.
“I’m Chiba Mamoru and you must be… Shikinami Asuka Langley?”
The sound of her name rolling off the tongue of another
in such a manner only further sparked her annoyance
towards this entirely ridiculous situation. She knew --
he didn't really care. He was working towards his own
future - something that she could never have again.
He was going to be the same as them. All those doctors and nurses had been paid to hold her down, but they had all failed miserably. All those adults had tried so hard to coax her into submission - did this stranger believe he could really succeed?
Lies, LIES, L I E S .
She could practically predict his sweet, shallow words; all those little phrases that helped me pretend his way through a case and guide his way to happiness that she could not taste anymore. As if she would let him--
❝ I don't think this is the time for you to be introducing yourself when I'm just about to shove that clipboard down your throat. ❞
“Is it not better to die than to suffer?”
Oh, so she was one of those people, was she? One who would induce those streaks of rage that left Asuka weak and with nothing more than dissatisfaction?
❝ You would run away? ❞
arch-nemesis
"………….How did you even end up here?”
Oh, god.
❝ Hell if I know. Why are you here? ❞
She wanted to run again, to stand tall with the pride she had lost upon that fateful moment of evening glow, that which stripped her of most of her mobile capabilities and her dignity as a fighter.
Now, with a piece of black cloth to cover one of countless scars now spanning her body.and crutches to support her flimsy frame, she limps down the hallway before collapsing against a wall, eyes flaring towards a stranger.
❝ You don't belong here. ❞

after about three years here on tumblr, i’ve made it to my biggest milestone i never thought i’d get to—- 1,000 followers. it’s been a long time coming; i’ve been here for so long it seems, improving my writing everyday, meeting wonderful people & watching Adam grow with every interaction. a lot of things have happened here on this account; memories and experiences that will always be dear to me, friends have been made, but most importantly, i’ve seen Adam blossom as a character, and that is something that i will forever cherish— i intend to take Adam and his story to even greater heights, and furthering his development here on tumblr has only made me pursue this dream more than i ever have.
i always tend to write maybe too much sentiment, but it’s hard for me to stress just how appreciative i am, and how lucky i am to have gotten this far. all i have to say is a huge thank you to my followers, new & old; to my friends, and all who support me and everything i do here, sticking with me.
—— it’s all thanks to you guys.
A girl with no past, no records.
For her, there was only the now of the time.
The teenage European Air Force prodigy studying abroad in Japan - that was all she was supposed to be. With a mysterious aura centering from the black leather covering her left eye, Asuka would remain an enigma to the rest of her peers, shutting down unnecessary questions while revealing the minimal amount necessary to pique interest. The introductions to the class had been made, in which the stereotypical picture of the unfriendly foreign student had been portrayed almost perfectly.
She was able to achieve what she had wanted for so long - solitude. Of course, while it was suffocating, she needed not the attention of petty students who swarmed over to the most recently interesting thing that strayed into their vision. Alone at her desk, head down in a nest of crossed arms, she clenched her teeth in an effort to push the edging hunger away. She had come unprepared, assuming that lunch - no matter how simplistic - would be served by the school. Unfortunately, she hadn't done quite enough researching before her enrollment.
Argh I have been so busy with school I haven't had much time for roleplaying -
but if you want a starter in the near future, like this!
AHH SO orientation for transfer students begins today! i won't be on until late at night (probably not at all) so if you need me, i'll be on skype!
Pathetic.
It was the single word that echoed throughout Asuka's thoughts. To think that the Sibyl System dared to humiliate her in such a way, to grant her pity and making her seem weak. They had twisted her fate, forcing her to walk down a path of shame brought about by her decision to follow Sibyl's directions. She had been given so many choices, and she had simply picked the one that seemed most suitable - what was so wrong with that?
She should have been executed. When they had found her in that damned building, her Coefficient was far beyond recovery, hue so clouded that it could only be described as a murky black. With one eye mutilated and mental state on the brink of deterioration, the promising Inspector should have been discarded and forgotten properly. At least such actions would have been logical and merciful.
A long exhale dragged out from pressed lips. Fists clenched, she stood outside the Unit 1 office. Starting from that day, she would have to live as one of the dogs of society, the lowest of the low. After all, serving as a hound was only natural for any Enforcer, whether they had ever been the masters or not. Nails dug deep into the flesh of palms, eyebrows furrowing to leave deep creases as she stepped through the automatic sliding doors.
Much to her surprise - and relief - there was only a single other person in the room. Auburn hair and brown eyes, an overall slim but short build, childish posture - not much to fear, especially considering he was engrossed in a video game at the moment. An eyebrow raised as she hesitantly strode to the male's side, hands shoved firmly into the pockets of her red athletic jacket.
❝ So I suppose it's courtesy to ignore ignore the presence of another person? ❞
Verse: Psycho-Pass Name: Asuka Shikinami Langley Age: 19 Affiliation: MWPSB Personality: Determination, precision, and pride - such virtues proved to be absolute essentials in Asuka's personality even as she was demoted from Inspector to Enforcer. But of course, the sheer weight of collapsing expectations and aspirations was beyond unbearable for her, creating the cold and rude manner in which she treats others. Growing close to Asuka is nearly impossible, as she will intentionally cut off any opportunities to do so. Background: Never once has she forgotten who she is. Asuka Shikinami Langley - born to a well-off but degenerating family, her life was far from ideal. With parents who knew of nothing but personal gain, she hardly interacted with either. With the intention of winning them over and gaining the attention she had been unable to gain as a child, she worked incredibly hard to graduating early and within the top 10 of her class. Perhaps if she had chosen some other occupation, she would have achieved all that she had dreamed of. But as one of the few who were granted the opportunity to work in the MWPSB, she grasped the chance as soon as it came. At first, it was really quite a fitting job for Asuka, considering how both quick-witted and athletically superior to many others of her age. At the age of 18, she was well on her way to becoming one of the few members of the MWPSB who were seen as heroes. But no - in the end, she was just far too young and far too inexperienced for the job. Upon becoming a hostage to an infamous crime syndicate, she finally exceeded her breaking point. What exactly happened the night of what's known as the notorious "Marionette Case" is unknown, and the incident itself was silenced within the Bureau simply out of courtesy. The only reminders of the events lie in both Asuka's demotion to Enforcer and the eyepatch she know wears due to the mutilation that was inflicted upon her as a means of torture. Rumor has it that her Coefficient had been high enough to trigger the Lethal Eliminator mode upon her rescue - none have neither challenged nor confirmed such whispered stories. She still burns with a bitterness and absolutely despises any form of weakness. Now, as one of the youngest members of the MWPSB, she is determined to claw her way back up to an Inspector - no matter what it takes.
