A brief intro to stamp making!

These are regular pink erasers from the supermarket. I'm going to make a flower. First, I trace the eraser itself to get a feel for the size.

I trace the design for each color of ink on separate pieces of tracing paper, then tape them onto the erasers and rub the graphite side down to transfer the image. Any paper that holds graphite will work for this.

Since I'm using red, blue, and yellow ink, I'm layering the stamps over top of one another to produce secondary colors like green and purple. I use a V-shaped carving tool most of the time, just a cheap one I got in a kit at Michael's. Almost anything sharp will work.

I got these Ranger ink pads also at Michael's, they're working for me so far. Slightly nicer ink pad brands usually also sell bottles of refill ink, so you don't need to buy a whole new pad when one runs dry.

Most of the time involved is spent carving the rubber and testing the print as you go. Be careful to carve in the direction away from your hands.

I think these worked out pretty well! Thanks for reading, and have fun!

in true canadian fashion: sorry i'm late

although, in some ways, i'm actually early. You know what I realized doing this ambitious painting? this year is going to be the 15th anniversary of IAMP.

The call for auditions was uploaded September 22, 2009, and if I recall correctly my audition as artist and VA was accepted around October or November of that same year. I've grown a lot as an artist and as a person in that long time and for some weird reason I just can't let these guys go.

anyway, thanks for everyone who participated in the roulette, I know it doesn't seem like a big deal but I really struggle drawing all of these guys without losing steam. it really helped! especially since I don't do a lot of gouache work and I second guessed myself a lot. It warms my heart a little to see you guys engaged in this silly game.

what else is there to say. oh yeah, I put two types of maple leafs. the stereotypical sugar maple is in the upper right of course, but I also put a manitoba maple in the lower left because that's the kind of maple I'm most familar with where I'm from. it's long been my mission to bring the western rep in whatever I do, so it's kind of my love letter signature to my own constantly changing understanding of Who Am I and Where Am I From.

anyway. enjoy :) i enjoyed making it. thanks to ctcsherry for creating these guys

My friend sometimes brings her six-year-old to our DnD sessions and my husband (the DM) lets her roll for all enemy attacks and sometimes he will show her a few figures and let her secretly pick what creature we meet next. Who needs encounter tables when you have a first-grader around

She cheers when the monster is winning.

DM: *places an ugly, slavering, repugnant, spine-tingling creature on the battle map*

oooooohhhh that looks pretty

idk what happens but rn I'm guessing that venom hops into his body, takes one look in his brain and is like 'wow this is so much, I'm leaving right now immediately' because it would be hilarious and Marc et al weaponizing his internal landscape never gets old to me lmaoooo

otherwise it's extremely a 'we can make each other worse' situation hahaha

okay what did i miss

(yes some of these overlap and some are suppositions. for example if parchment is always used for ephemera, rough drafts, notes, and never re-used or re-purposed, we can also assume that the author is unaware of wax tablets as a concept)

realised I did at least two of these in my little medieval novella 😭

as penance you have to write us a novella with a sexy professional scribe who spends about 80% of the book lovingly preparing a piece of parchment for writing

drypoint ruling as foreplay. it's the next big thing

[Video of origami figures, dancing to a techno beat. They look like cranes, but with legs. There are 3 in a row, their wings taped together, and their feet taped to the desk. Clear tape on the the outside ones wings is being used to pull the group back and forth, making them dance]

i think "sister cities" as a diplomatic effort fails because it's too general you just sign a thing and put up a statue and then nobody ever thinks about it.

i think if u grew up online u are more than likely to develop a pretty anti-country politics like. yknow when I see reddit frontpage shit of Russian soldiers dying it makes me sick because like, did you not have foundational experiences when you were 13 of hearing some 17 year old russian kid talk about his girlfriend? are you not steam friends with a UAE femboy weeb and a Chinese synthesizer nerd? certainly there is a ton of racism in gaming and online maybe I'm over-optimistic. but idk this feels common right. It's harder to be a nationalist or pro-war when there's faces over there

it feels like sister cities as a concept was good but it needs a redux. it needs to be like. a part of ur week. Vancouver is iirc the sister city of Guangzhou and Edinburgh and that should mean something. Preferably in the form of inane internet discourse or a giant screen constantly running a zoom call so we can flip each other off on the commute. iunno

We're sister cities with Guangzhou?

Apparently also with Odesa, Yokohama, and Los Angeles. Ok Los Angeles is weird but this is a nice little list. Chicago has 26 sister cities, one of which is Shanghai; Shanghai now has 72 sister cities* lmfao. Imagine that zoom call

*some of those are entire provinces, which makes sense from the Chinese perspective because Shanghai is a “direct-administered municipality”, on the same level as provinces. But still calling them sister *cities* is beyond weird. And it also leads to both Montreal and Quebec being Shanghai’s “sister cities”

What’s everybody’s most useless skill? If you show me any picture of Godzilla I can tell you exactly which Godzilla suit it is and who was wearing it.

What about this one

This is from Godzilla Minus One and it’s CGi. No suit actor involved in this movie (but the big Godzilla head in the water was a practical effect).

I welcome anyone to challenge me on this

How about this one??

Oh shit now this is a challenge! I’m 100% sure that the suit is the SoshingekiGoji suit, but this suit was used in like 4 different movies, so the real challenge is figuring out which movie this is.

I’m pretty sure this shot is from Godzilla Destroy All Monsters (the first movie that this suit was used in), because of the lack of wear and damage to the suit.

And we know that Godzilla is being played by Haruo Nakajima in this shot because of which movie this is (but it’s also extremely obvious based on Godzillas posture)

That is:

A: 100% correct

B: Incredibly hot

A challenge from my friend!

This is KiryuGoji (the first one) played by Tsutomu Kitagawa

I really like this one! At first glance it looks like it could be a Heisei era suit, but this is one of the KiryuGoji suits from Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, and Godzilla Tokyo S.O.S!

The spines are the dead giveaway for this suit! They have the same shape as MireGoji but without the purple tint that we see in the image below. We only ever saw this style of spine in the Millennium era films.

The only other suit with the millennium era spines in this color is the FinalGoji suit. We can rule out this being FinalGoji by comparing FinalGojis face to the one in the picture.

KiryuGoji has larger eyes and the whites of his eyes are more visible. FinalGoji (on the right) has more prominent ears, and you can’t see the whites of his eyes.

Here’s the thing though, there are actually 2 KiryuGoji suits. The second suit looks a lot like the first one, but it had a big scar on its chest. The lack of scar on this suit means that this is a picture from Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla, and not from Tokyo SOS, and that is how we know that this is the first KiryuGoji suit.

I love this art

Here are my fauvorite zoom-ups of this art:

Image

Thisle being so done at Laios in the paintings room. Just. Look at him. He is fucking done. He is about to push him through the painting. He's saying: "No. Stop it right there. Whatever you're thinking."

Image

Izutsumi accidentally scaring a stray cat. She looks so annoyed: "shut the fuck up will wou?"

The shield being there where Laios threw it to distract the living armors. And the Folke couple studiyng something together <3.

Also that armor standing meanacely.

Image

This armor. Female videogames characters reference? We all know that armor has +18 defensive stats.

Image

This guy looking at a black cat. He looks like he wants to pet it. I think he's the most human of his party, and he doesn't really likes them very much.

Image

Shuro buying a flower (preasumibly for Fallin). He so lovely but he stands no chance.

Image

Fallin and Marcille shopping.

The dwarf being so pissed here is funny to me. Dandan is selling stuff like he has 20 in charisma score and this guy is just: well dammit. Also, Chilchuck passing by with a younger Half-foot is sweet, is that half-foot a new member to the guild?

Holm is just so precious to me <3. Also Mickbell standing behind Kuro instead of getting the fuck away and hiding. And Daya being excited about the treasure chest. I love them. They're so silly.
