Lack of nutrients, endless hours of
torture had left him battered & bruised.
His once endurable body now refused
to heal. Despite it all, he refused to
accept her offer, even if she was allowing
him a chance at parenthood; one last
lifetime to finally right the WRONGS. It
made sense that Esther should target him.
But Rebekah’s voice sounded so genuine, each layer the same as he last recalled even if the strain it now carried was not necessarily the same as when they had last spoken.
Dark hues glanced up at her, for a moment Elijah allowed himself a glimpse of faith, convinced himself that this was his sister, bearing witness to the protruding veins staining his face.
“Forgive me.”
Whether he pleaded with her for not leaving with her when she asked, or for being so weak under their mother’s witchcraft… or every other time he had not prevented Niklaus from daggering her… it remained unknown.
Shaking her head as he asked for her forgiveness. Her bright blue eyes glossy with unshed tears. He was so broken, it wasn't something she had ever wanted to see. They were all damaged beyond repair, but Elijah -- he always remained so quiet in his pain. He never shared it, and now to look at him, so lost that he couldn't hide it. Her own heart broke. "There is nothing to forgive." Pulling the chains lose with little effort. Throwing a glance over her shoulder. She was unaware of how much time she truly had. He may be guilty of many things, failing her was never one of them. No matter how angry she could be with him, the words she said never mattered. He was the one sibling she had who had ever wished the best for her -- who was willing to suffer for her happiness. Bringing her wrist to her cherry lips, the veins under her eyes spidering out as her fangs descending from her gums. Biting down on her ivory skin, the blood pooling at the new puncture marks. Pressing her wrist to his lips, her eyes pleading. "Drink."
"What is it you intend to show me, how I failed Rebekah? Rest assured, that particular memory is quite vivid. You will not manipulate me any further.”
But he was tired. —— so tired.
”No more.”
Rebekah let out a soft sigh, moving so she was now close to him. "You have never f a i l e d me, Elijah." Her finds trailing his cheek, biting down on her lip to keep herself from letting out a sob. She had always viewed her brothers as invisible - especially Elijah. He always did the saving. "We're going home."
First Tatia, now Rebekah. He had to hand it to his mother, she certainly knew how to hit where it hurt most.
”You may taunt me. But you will not break me, mother.”
"I've been called many things over our years, but that by far may be the w o r s t."
you’re right. I do care. I want stupid koala corsages and a prom. I want to have kids with someone who loves me enough to stand outside my window with a stupid boombox. I want to be human.
