writers block (monday blues)

sometimes i wish i could just sit in the dark i can't really give you any real explanation why but somewhere in my head i've come to the conclusion that sitting alone in the dark is easier than living a beautiful life filled with good and bad experiences easier to not try than to try and fail

embrace embrace your responsibility for every situation that you're in even the ones that are outside of your control because even then you have control over your actions in those moments instead of asking why i suffer ask yourself is it worth suffering for?

writers block (be safe)

can we talk? just for a quick second, I know you and your friends are supposed to go out to the mall/movies/park/six flags today i just want you to be safe. I can't be with you every step of the way so please keep these thoughts with you don't use your cell phone/e-cig/trapperkeeper/wallet/keys in front of officers if they ask for something that is in your pocket, in a tone that is seemingly docile, please let them know that you are reaching in your front/back/left/right/jacket/coat pocket if you are driving place your hands at 10 and 2 and follow every direction that the officer gives you repeat the directions to them as a question BEFORE you do them sir, may I reach in my glove compartment for my license/registration/insurance see, this may seem crazy but I want to see your face at night I want to continue hearing the words I love you dad.

writers block (new life)

i used to leave work and take my time drive slow, take the long way home listen to all the new music at high volume and if the streets were empty enough 90mph just to see how long i could safely drive recklessly... it's different now i can't seem to get home fast enough traffic jams where there used to be none keep the speed limit switch lanes with the turn signal on safely driving minus the reckless abandon all because of you.

Everybody understands all lives matter. Everybody wants strong, effective law enforcement. Everybody wants their kids to be safe when they're walking to school. Nobody wants to see pole officers who are doing their job fairly, hurt. Everybody understands its a dangerous job. I think the reason that the organizers used the phrase black lives matter, was not because they were suggesting nobody elses lives matter, rather what they were suggesting was there is a specific problem that is happening in the African American community that is not happening in other communities, and that is a legitimate issue we have got to address. I forget which French writer said there was a law that was passed that really was equal, because both rich and poor were forbidden from stealing loaves of bread and sleeping under the bridge. Well, so that's not a good definition of equality. The situation is, there's a specific concern as to whether African Americans are sometimes not treated, in particular jurisdictions, fairly or are subject to excessive force more frequently. I think its important for those that are concerned about that to back it up with data, not anecdote,  to not paint with a broad brush, to understand the overwhelming majority of law enforcement is doing the right thing and wants to do the right thing. To recognize that police officers have a really tough job and we're sending them into really tough neighborhoods, that sometimes are really dangerous and they've got to make split second decisions. So we shouldn't be too sanctimonious about situations that can sometimes be ambiguous. But, that all said, we as a society, particularly given our history, have to take this seriously. One of the ways of avoiding the politics of this and not losing the moment is everybody just stepping back for a second and realizing that the African American community is not just making this up, and it's not just something being politicized. It's real and theres a history behind it and we have to take it seriously. And it's incumbent then on the activists to also take seriously the tough job that police have. And that's one of the things that the post-Ferguson task force did. We had activists who were marching in Ferguson with police chiefs and law enforcement sitting down figuring this stuff out. And just assuming good faith in other people, going to the issue of people being cynical. I think it's important. I've rarely gotten much accomplished assuming the worst in other people.

Damn it ‪#‎VMAs‬, Rebel Wilson and MTV, police brutality is not a laughing matter. 24 unarmed blacks have been killed so far this year. Your awards show, just like your network is the real joke. I bet the families of Mike Brown, Freddie Gray, Tamir Rice, Rekia Boyd, and countless others didn’t appreciate Rebel’s absolutely uncalled for joke.
