“What was that?”
“Did you hear footsteps?”
“I know it’s stupid to think that someone is watching us but I really think someone is watching us.”
“There are no such things as monsters.”
“I wish we had a flashlight.”
“Are you sure no one else is here?”
“Abandoned farmhouse at the end of a country road, isn’t this how every episode of Scooby Doo started?”
“I’m getting out of here.”
“That’s not funny.”
“I’m telling you no one is here and I’ll prove it to you…”
“Look! It’s just a tattered bed sheet.”
“I’ll leave the light on if that will make you feel better.”
“Please tell me you heard that.”
“It was huge, black and had rows of bright white teeth!”
“Sorry, my grandmother is staying with us for a few days.”
“Of course there’s no signal out here…”
“Let me guess, there’s an old summer camp nearby where something terrible happened years ago and no one will talk about it. Am I close?”
“A baseball? Where did that come from?”
“It’s raining frogs. Why is it raining frogs?”
“Everything will be better once I get a fire started.”
“Why did I let you talk me into this?”
“That howling is just a dog or coyote, right?”
“Stop breathing down my neck. It isn’t funny.”
“The sun is setting, maybe we should go home.”
“No we are not picking up hitchhikers!”
“There is nothing to be afraid of in a cemetery.”
“I’m not going out there this close to dark.”

I got emotional about kakyoin last night once again

Peace and quiet was so far and in between these days, only the inky darkness of night offered some semblance of tranquility for Kakyoin. When everyone else departed for the night to their individual rooms, he could finally breathe a little easier. After all, they were strangers, brought together by a twist of fate that no one could predict. He didn’t mind them, but merely felt left out in such a tight-knit group. They all knew each other, and he was an outlier, someone who could barely control the stand nesting within his soul, and didn’t quite know how to talk without experiencing that same kind of fumble.

He’d almost forgot that he had to share a room with someone else, until the door began to creak open.

This person was familiar, strikingly familiar. Not anyone that he’d met before, or even happened to pass by each other, Kakyoin simply felt like he knew this man from something that he wasn’t aware of. Perhaps, he’d only been dreaming again.

“Excuse me.” He tried to start a conversation in the simplest of ways, not trying to draw too much attention to himself.
