In the Twilight books there are exactly two (2) Christians, Carlisle (who is an Anglican, not a Mormon) and Edward (who is non denominational, not a Mormon). There is never a moment in the books where anyone presents any proof that Jesus is real.
At the same time the boys of the Quileute nation are taught to believe that some of them have a special gene that allows them to transform into the Spirit Animal of their nation in order to defeat vampires, something that none of them believes in... until they start transforming every day into the Spirit Animal of their nation and thus become living proof that these legends are true - unlike Christianity that is false.
That's just what's in the books.
So my question is this: if her books say that the Quileute's spiritual beliefs are the one true religion and that Christianity is false, in what way is this "an allegory of one gentile seeker's coming to the fullness of Latter-day Saint faith and life"?
In what way is Bella marrying a vampire and becoming a vampire herself the equivalent of becoming a Mormon? If Stephenie Meyer is saying that Mormons are just like vampires i.e., that Mormons are like the undead creatures of the night who suck blood to live, wouldn't that be rather casting aspersions on the religion of her closest and dearest?
If she really is, as you say, trying to write a book that makes you identify with a protagonist who becomes a Mormon... wouldn't she have made the Mormons the good guys, i.e. the Quileute? Wouldn't she have made Bella marry a Quileute person in order to join the "Mormons" i.e. the good guys? Otherwise it makes no sense.
And if her books are some sort of Mormon manifesto ultimately designed to convert the reader to her religion, then how come the Mormons reject her? How come no one has ever shown up at a Mormon temple saying "Twilight has sent me here"?
I actually asked Mormons why they don't feel proud of her and they said they either never read her books or don't see any Mormon message in them.
Quite simply there is no truth to the idea that the twilight books are Mormon or even pro-Christian in content.
