Why would I give you my number? Your picture is of a butt. That’s weird. I also would never send you a photo nor would want to receive one??? I’m not on here to make a bunch of friends and be a part of a popularity contest, so I would NEVER give my phone number out. And I don’t want kik.

This is a sculpture project I recently finished. The assignment was called shelter, so I decided to show how I felt in mine. I took over 1000 pill bottles and relabeled them to say things people have said to me to cause me to take these pills. I wanted people to realize what bullying does to people. Let me know what you guys think.

American sculptress Jessica Joslin (previously featured here) uses ethically sourced animal skulls and bones along with beautiful antique found objects, such as Victorian-era hardware and fittings, to create extraordinarily beautiful creatures that are part ornate metal work and part bone. The longer we look at them, the more we expect these otherworldly creatures to turn their heads and look right back at us.

"…Joslin gives the creatures whose bones she utilizes a dignified appearance even in death. Her work is both decorative and visceral, as her intricate craftsmanship belies her haunting subject matter."

Joslin recently completed a new body of work for her solo show, The Immortal Zoo, which was on display at Firecat Projects, a non-profit gallery in Chicago.

Click here to watch a beautiful teaser video for the exhibition, which provides a marvelously close look at Joslin’s newest menagerie.

No but I can just imagine a person bursting through the door screaming “I NEED YOUR HELP. IT’S A NINE” and everyone in the shop stops and all collectively goes “Oh shit” and the florists start working frantically while the man/woman just stands there looking scared as fuck while the other customers are trying to figure out what they did.

that must be bad if it’s a 9 on an alphabetical scale.

IM FUCKGIN CRYING

Today the Department of Awesome Animal Hybrids shares an awesomely strange yet delightful series of illustrations by Berkeley, CA-based illustrator Brynn Metheney. We aren’t quite sure if these creatures are the cutest sharks or the freakiest kitties we’ve ever seen, but one thing’s for sure: they’re Shark Cats!

Metheny explains what led her to create not one, but 12 different Shark Cats:

"It was a normal day when I grabbed my sketchpad and began to doodle. What came out was little scribbles of a horrible little creature: the Shark Cat. The initial design was based on the thresher shark. I found that the short face and extremely large eyes worked well with the cat aesthetic. However, as I kept sketching, I noticed that almost any shark species could be adapted. I took the opportunity to explore gouache a bit more and turned them into a bit of a series.”
