OH MAN, I’m so sad I’ve been on hiatus these past few weeks and only just saw this now.

This is EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED! I’ve been craving a good comic superhero!AU forEVER and this delivers on so many fronts!

The setting, the character names, the plots--all of this is perfect. It really feels like I’m reading a comic book as I read this. The care and detail put in is palpable. I don’t want to give away any plot twists because you should instantly go read this, but the conceit of the whole thing and the “twist” is genius and I could so easily see this really happening. Haruka especially is a star in this.

WE’LL JUST IGNORE HOW LONG IT’S BEEN SINCE I POSTED THE FANDOM MEME THAT THESE WERE GLEANED FROM AND GET DOWN TO IT.

The N that you see up there so much was “Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom.” APPARENTLY a lot of you really wanted my input on this sort of thing, so instead of just doing three, I DID THREE FOR EACH OF YOU BECAUSE I EVIDENTLY HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS HERE.

Under the cut are twelve things I would like to see more of in Sailor Moon fanfiction, a category which I narrowed down because otherwise I would never stop talking.

I’d like to begin, however, by saying the number one thing that I look for in every single fic I read—which automatically, of course, becomes something I always want to see more often. This is, in my opinion, the thing that separates great authors from people who just borrow others’ characters, the the thing that can take even the most silly and inane plot and elevate it into something truly transcendent. That thing is having good intentions toward your characters.

I don’t mean that you have to have happy endings and lots of warm fuzzies and sunshine in your work—lord knows that several of my most beloved faves in this fandom regularly get their jollies by tormenting characters. I also want to point out that this doesn’t mean that you need to have perfect characterization, or amazing plots, or completely polished prose. But if you care about your characters, people can always tell. I guarantee it. And further, if you care about your characters, you’re going to want to do right by them. By all means, push them out of their comfort zones, throw them in weird situations, make their lives a living hell if you want—but stay true to those characters in the process. Everybody sees characters in slightly different ways, and one of the nice things about this fandom is how there’s plenty of room (and canons) on which to base your ideas. But there’s a difference between lovingly gleaning information from canon and extrapolating, and trying to suit some other agenda (by that, I’m thinking really egregious things like Michiru dumping Haruka to go be with a man, and stuff like that). And again—characterization doesn’t have to be completely perfect (what is perfect characterization anyway?), and you don’t have to have seen every single episode of the anime and read all of the manga, and your headcanons and characterizations are never going to completely align with mine and vice versa because that’s just the breadth of material we have to work with, which is a good thing. But when you come at writing with goodwill and enthusiasm and trust in your characters, that ALWAYS adds that special shine to your work that can’t be replicated by anyone else besides you, and whenever I see a writer who’s found that sweet spot of their own voice and their own style combined with their own special blend of characterization—that’s an amazing and unique moment, every time.

Okay, so the response was pretty positive to the idea of doing yet another SPARKLE SPARKLE IT’S THE FUCKING HOLIDAYS GIFT EXCHANGE

For those of you who haven’t joined in before, this is a gift exchange between anyone on tumblr who is into Harumichi. You don’t have to follow me, like me, don’t have to have interacted with any of us, etc. All you need to do is have the desire to write or draw to a Harumichi-based prompt, and want receive same!
