I am so fucking sick of CGI this, CGI that. give me back on location filming (when possible), give me back intricate hauntingly realistic animatronics and puppets, give me back handmade props & masks & skillful make up……..just give me back practical effects I am begging
True history fact: Did you know that sarcasm was first introduced to the english language by the vikings? … I think we all know which viking
How well I think each of the Big 4 can cook:
- Jack can pretty much only cook whatever he can make easily over a campfire. He doesn’t have reliable access to a kitchen so he’s never had the opportunity to learn to make anything more complex. Even if he had, he doesn’t need to eat very much so he never felt the need. He knows how to hunt, but prefers wild fruits, nuts, roots, or vegetables which he’ll either eat raw or roast on a fire. Usually when he’s hungry he’ll either just fly off to where he knows food grows or if he’s in a city or town - someplace with restaurants and people eating outside - he’ll help himself to any food he can find.
- One of the ways Rapunzel passed the time in the tower was teaching herself to cook. Of course, Gothel taught Rapunzel to make her favorite meals so Rapunzel could cook them for her, but in her own time Rapunzel either reread the same cooking books cover to cover or experimented on her own. This includes baking and it’s a testament to how much time she spent alone in the tower that she’s mastered the art of making the perfect soufflé. Even after reclaiming her family and her crown she still enjoys it and it isn’t unusual to see her in the kitchens assisting the staff.
- Hiccup isn’t a master chef, but he knows how to make some simple and tasty dishes, be it over a campfire or in an actual kitchen. It seems that in viking times it was uncommon for men to do the cooking at home - it was different when they went on raids - but after Valka’s disappearance Stoick made the effort to learn for Hiccup. When Hiccup was older he didn’t strictly speaking ask for lessons. He simply watched and copied what his father did until he became the better cook of the two. After Stoick’s death, cooking is one of the things Hiccup does to feel closer to him.
- Merida has little interest in domestic cooking - not that it’s very necessary for her, with a full kitchen staff at her service - but she knows how to hunt small game and fish and how to prepare them on an open fire. Fergus taught her how to skin and clean her kills, but oftentimes she’ll bring them back to the palace and hand them off to the kitchen staff. She also knows how to find edible plants and dress her catches with them.
Two fierce blonde warriors who should be kept as far away from the kitchen (or food in general) as humanely possible.
Realized I forgot to post this here so, here it is!
