Tyrell swords will make me king. Rowan and Tarly and Caron will make me king, with axe and mace and warhammer. Tarth arrows and Penrose lances, Fossoway, Cuy, Mullendore, Estermont, Selmy, Hightower, Oakheart, Crane, Caswell, Blackbar, Morrigen, Beesbury, Shermer, Dunn, Footly … even House Florent, your own wife’s brothers and uncles, they will make me king. All the chivalry of the south rides with me, and that is the least part of my power. My foot is coming behind, a hundred thousand swords and spears and pikes. And you will destroy me? With what, pray? That paltry rabble I see there huddled under the castle walls? I’ll call them five thousand and be generous, codfish lords and onion knights and sellswords. Half of them are like to come over to me before the battle starts. You have fewer than four hundred horse, my scouts tell me-freeriders in boiled leather who will not stand an instant against armored lances. I do not care how seasoned a warrior you think you are, Stannis, that host of yours won’t survive the first charge of my vanguard.

Son of still petite frame had made himself quite comfortable at his lords desk quite sometime ago. The third born of golden rose arrived just that morning only to find disappointment in learning Renly was unavailable. So instead he’d set to writing beloved little sister a letter confirming his safety & that their esteemed capital was quite the dump compared to the heavens of Highgarden. “ Were you expecting another, my lord? “ Feet crossed at the ankles he sends an amused expression over narrow shoulder, eyes sparkling with ready mischief under long honeyed lashes. 

Renly crossed his arms as the younger addressed him with that tone. The one that contained mischief and sass and occasional cutting insults he found most amusing when they were thrown at others within his social circle. He expected those to die off eventually, when his tongue would most definitely get him in trouble one of these days.

“Surprisingly not. I’m just glad to be back in King’s Landing,” he admitted, strolling over to the desk and looking down at the boy. One of his eyebrows raised slightly as he glanced at the letter on the desk. “Writing to your dear little sister?” One of his hands settled on the back of his chair just casually.
