Forever running

@solitariosdecem-blog / solitariosdecem-blog.tumblr.com

I'm The Doctor, I'm a traveller that's all. A wanderer of the fifth dimension. But a few years ago, I was sort of made, well, sort of homeless, and there was the Earth. So full of life and potential, shining out across the stars like a flame to a moth. How could I resist? indie 10th | Pre-Planet of the Dead

Clara kept glancing between the Doctor and the door, the shadow still there unmoving.

"Slitheen? What a name… although not as impressive as that description you just gave," Clara whispered as she took a step forward towards the door.

"Why isn’t it doing any-" her sentence was interrupted by the glass of the door smashing in front of them as a giant green claw blasted it’s way through the door.

"Hiding. Yes. That might be a good idea. This way!" she was already heading out towards the back door before she’d finished talking.

As Clara spoke he tried to keep one eye on the door and one eye on Clara, obviously since they were at opposite sides of him he was failing miserably. But the moment her heard the glass beginning to crack he automatically jumped in front of her and battered the massive claw away.

"Yeah, hidings good. Very good about now...."

He glanced around for a second trying to find something to use as a weapon of some sort before taking off after her, at a slightly slower speed. They needed some form of vinegar... but since the Slitheen was now definitely in the house where would they get it from?

"That doesn’t make it any better!?" Clara took a step back as the tainted glass of the window was shadowed by a large figure from the other side. There was a moment of silence as parties on either side of the door waited, wondering what the other was going to do first.

"Doctor? What actually is it?"

The Doctor turned to her and shushed her with his finger tip, hoping she'd get the message of quietening down a bit. Because he really didn't feel like being turned into a suit today.

"It's a Slytheen. Big green farting aliens that use human skin as suits ....well, Slytheen is actually their surname. Massive family of genocidal fart machines." He whispered. "Anywhere we can hide?"

Clara nodded as she listened to him talk, returning his cheeky grin with a smirk. “You couldn’t leave me out. Simple. Either you would die because I wasn’t there or I would kill you because I wasn’t there.”

Her eye line was drawn to something behind the Doctor, something that was looking back at her and coming this way.

"Now these aliens, they wouldn’t happen to have been following you, right? Because… you wouldn’t just lead them right to my front door now, right?”

She slapped his arm, pulling him inside, slamming the door shut and turning the lock.

"You lead  the aliens right to my front door!?" she exclaimed, giving him another slap on his upper arm.

The Doctor was about to reply with something very clever and witty, at least in his mind, when she dragged him in the door and began hitting him.

"Ow! What was that---- I didn't lead them here on purpose! Why would I even do that ...look. Stop hitting me." He moved out of her reach, and rubbed his arm as he took a look outside. "And for the record, I didn't lead them to your front door ...I lead them to outside."

The Doctor knocked against the door, glancing up and down the street to make sure nothing had followed him, before turning back just as the door opened revealing Clara.

Clara was a little shocked to see the Time Lord standing on her doorstep. She smiled as she looked him over and leant against the side of the timber door frame.

"Blimey, on my door step, no warning whatsoever, suit, tie and wearing the coat. It must be something good then. Go on, what did you find.”

The Doctor rocked on the balls of his feet, giving her a cocky grin as he clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. Oh she was going to love this. Well, he hoped she would. He had just ran all the way here after all.

"Weeeell, I was in the neighbourhood and then there were aliens and how could I leave out my trusty companion?"

The bridge was usually quiet around this time. Most people were sleeping or the different sections were manned by a so-called ‘skeleton crew’. Still, he’d never seen this man before.

"Of course I have the password! It is my station! Now, who are you?”

"Well, ...that certainly makes things easier." He span the chair so he was facing him directly. Young, barely eighteen he'd say. Give or take a few years. Must be some sort of genius to be on a starship at his age. Finally some good company. "I'm The Doctor. And I need your password because your security crew nicked my ship ...not the best welcome I've ever had but there you go."

"Naturally." She responded, "Or so ‘m told. Don’t really know." She continued down, trying to think of some way to fill the silence that fell between them, "Remind me what we’re after again?"

The Doctor just smirked at her reply. That was honestly something that he himself might have said. "Can't remind you, never actually said." He chuckled. "Would you believe me if I said there was an alien ship down here about to overload killing millions of people in the process? Because if not, it's not that. If you do, it is that."

Rory looked at him, and he thought. “Alright then, okay, okay. Sorry it’s just i have had this nagging feeling i was dropped off here in this time for some reason to find you The Doctor, obviously Melody, got the Face wrong.” Rory tapped his foot. “Oh Melody is my daughter by the way, she is better known as River Song, you will meet her someday.” He smiled before slapping his forehead. “That’s Right, i’m such an idiot.” He grabbed the Doctor’s shoulders. “Doctor i need your help to save my wife, in the future she will become one your closest friends, Doctor you have to help me please.” Seeing the Doctor wasn’t convinced Rory said three words to convince him. “It’s The Daleks.”

The Doctor chuckled, glad that they had finally gotten to some sort of understanding. It wasn't everyday he met someone who knew him when he had no knowledge of him at all ...but then again, since when did normal things ever happen to him. "River.... River Song. She's your daughter?" He opened his mouth but closed it again. Did he know that she was dead? Had it even happened yet for him...? Should he tell him? Did he even have the right to hide this? However before he could come up with an answer he was being shaken by the shoulders. "Surely your Doctor should be able to..." he trailed off as he spoke again, his eyes blazing. "The Daleks? Are you sure? One hundred percent positive?"

Of course. Of course she would bump into a version of the Doctor who was just as stubborn as she was. With a scathing look, she crossed her arms. All she needed to complete the look of a pouting child was to stamp her foot, but she contained herself for the moment. “If you call me Doodles,” she deadpanned, “I will shoot you in the kneecap.”

She didn’t think she would actually shoot someone over a nickname, but she wasn’t very thrilled about the prospect of being called Doodles. It was ridiculous.

The Doctor furrowed his brows automatically at her statement, his confusion evident. From what he'd observed of her so far he could tell that she wasn't the type to blow off peoples kneecaps just because she didn't get her own way. In fact, she seemed very much like him ...stubborn and rather brilliant. Now more sure than ever that she wouldn't actually do it, his expression soon switched into one of smug satisfaction. "As if, Doodles." He smirked. "I'll stop whenever you want, all you've got to do is tell your name."

Clara noticed the TARDIS out of the corner of her eye as she was walking home. Curious as always, she approached it, noticing it looked different than the one she was use to: different shade of blue, different windows, but it still had to be the TARDIS. She got closer to it and jumped back when man popped out, but it wasn’t the Doctor. Or was it? “Oh, your doors. Right. Sorry. Clara. Oswald.” She gave him a smile. “Um…” She wasn’t sure what she wanted to ask him first. “Uh, you wouldn’t happen to know the Doctor by any chance? And, just out of curiosity here, this isn’t the TARDIS, is it?”  She bit her lip, glancing behind him every so often to peek at the TARDIS interior.

A woman. Clara Oswald. He quickly searched her face to try and determine if he recognised her, but nope. She was all ...new, although there was a vague since of familiarity which was pretty odd. However she seemed to recognise him, or not, but she knew of the Doctor which admittedly not a lot of people knew of. "Hmm..." he scratched the back of his head and glanced at her shoes. "Yeah, well ...as it happens I do know him. Better than you might think. Maybe, er it's one those things isn't it ...never know how much you know about yourself 'til on the spot. Time travel does tend to add complications." He paused. "But yeah, this is the TARDIS. I don't drag around a blue box just for fun you know."
