2018.07.07 Chronicles

Last episode of Chronicle for Subaru.

It was an episode full of laughter and tears because they end it with an acoustic performance of Heavenly Psycho.

So for their last dodgeball “penalty” the members have to sing a song Subaru choose. So he chooses Heavenly Psycho. Ive seen a lot of versions of Heavenly Psycho and I always wanted to see it sung acoustic and i finally (gratefully & sadly) I got my wish. this version even though its harmonies are a bit off and some sang off key, I like this version the most.

After the song the narrator beautifully said: 

歌のムチャぶりごめんなさい、 希望の歌を歌った後には素敵な笑顔がありました。 すばるくん、あなたが大切に守っていた関ジャニ∞はここからは６人です。 でも、全然大丈夫、あなたがいてくれた時間も、あなたがいなくなることさえも、６人はちゃんと力に変えて、ちゃんと笑顔に変えて、強くなっていくはずです。 本当の初老になった時、みんなが笑っていられますように

Nishikido Ryo who doesnt even admit he is in pain at the dentist because of “japanese pride” broke down and couldnt sing his verse during LIFE; kanjani8′s last performance with Subaru.

Ive never seen him cry in real life before….. 

It’s not like Ryo was crying so bad he couldn’t sing, Ryo simply refused to sing the first lines and then stubbornly decided to not keep singing - you can clearly see him shaking his head in a silent “no” once his line rolls in. To put it simply, Ryo showed us the fit of rage of an infant. Then he realized how dumb he was acting and cried tears of rage, towards himself mostly, I guess, and get back his feet as the song was ending.

And I think this subtle distinction - between not being able to/not want to - is really important when it comes to a person that, since the conference, has always talked about moving and not looking back and all that jazz that he put up as a front to not face the fact that, indeed, Subaru was leaving.

You can see Ohkura being able to cheer up on Maru and Yoko and Hina being the first ones to collect the lines Ryo left behind mostly because they’re the most collected ones during the show, the ones with a clearer head. And the reason why they act like this is because they all already had the chance to express their feelings regarding Subaru leaving - Ohkura on ANN, Yoko on Janiben, Hina since forever - during these two months. The so called five phases, they waltzed through those.

But for the “everything is fine“ “band is coming fine” “segodon is fine” Ryo this is the first time coming to the realization that this is, indeed, the last song he’s going to play with Subaru. That this is the end of a first era of the band.

And so, everything that he has bottled so nicely exploded to this, the fit of rage of a toddler that doesn’t want to do the thing. That thinks “maybe, if I postpone the thing than it’s going to last a bit more”.

Ryo has been forced to face in 4:36 minutes of song something other members had 60 days to accept. And this has been the outcome.

It’s a good thing. It’s the first step.

100% agree with what northenn said. The one who defiantly said on his jweb that he is only focusing on their next stage, was the one who’s still emotional about Subaru leaving. Poor ossan. 

When Hina asked for Ryo’s parting words to Subaru after playing LIFE, he said 

“ 最後はなんか寂しかったね、隣にいて、ありがとうございました” 

*Rough translation* In the end, it was kind of lonely, eh. Thank you…..for being beside me. 

Then Ryo and Hina added this;

Ryo: Afterwards I had soba too and I couldn’t eat it normally, not after saying that to you Hina: Yeah, it was like watching a foreigner eat soba for the first time

Which lead to Subaru bursting into laughter and broke the tension because host were talking about Subaru’s last appearance as part K8 on Music Station XD

Only Nishi can develop PTSD from shit he said himself and there’s too much to bless here.
