Building a shield spell for my game. I didn’t just want to have the player not take damage when hit, but I wanted it to look like the bubble was actually blocking the hits.  I was able to get this effect by caching the post of the enemies the moment they hit the shield, holding it for a tenth of a second or so, and then having them blend back to their idle pose. It works fairly well, except that the taller goblins axe attack is a bit fast, so it tends to break through the shield a bit.

After some work I was able to build a circular selection menu in Unreal Engine.  UI stuff isn’t my forte, so of course its still ugly. My challenge was to try to get something that you could quickly select the options without having to click on them with a mouse.  Unreal doesn’t give UI elements a lot of access to inputs, so I had to rig it to use vectors to detect which icon was closest to where the joystick/mouse was aiming. I was able to set it up so that you press the button you want to map the ability to to exit the menu.
