( Apologies for the absence! I'll now be going on an official semi-hiatus, as Charles has been growing rather difficult lately. I'll be checking in every now and again, so feel free to either tag me in things for me to respond to once I return if an idea strikes any of you! Thank you for all who are sticking by me as I try to work things out with my muse, it's beyond appreciated! )

"You make me so hot."

“I,” the professor tipped his head lightly, a gesture of disbelief, chuckling almost skeptically at Wade’s admission. Surely the man opposite him didn’t mean—? “I don’t believe I fully understand what you’re implying, Wade. Would you care to elaborate?” Not that he didn’t understand, more so that he didn’t believe. Surely this was nothing more than a teasing jab? A strange, yet poor attempt at humor, maybe?

"I don’t need you here," his fingers stuttered where they tapped against the arm of his chair, jaw clenched as he continued. "You don't have to stay. Not for me."

Avatar

"Charles Francis Xavier!" Enigma snapped striding over to him. "I’m not letting you drown yourself in scotch! Like it or not I’m staying. You helped me when no one else would. My turn to help you. It’s what family does."

"There’s you," she said unable to keep herself from flinching at his tone and volume. He was stubborn and quite the pain in the ass at times, but so was she. She refused to back down because he wanted to drown in alcohol and self pity.

"Like I said. I am not going anywhere. Feel free to force the rest of our family out but don’t expect me to follow. I’m a telepath too. I’ve got my tricks too. You’re not the only telepath around.” She steeled her gaze and resisted the urge to bare her teeth at him. She was furious with him, there was no doubt about that, but she could understand why he was so broken. What she couldn’t understand was why he refused to let her help. "Charles let me help you. Let us help you. You don’t have to suffer alone.”

The Professor was a man of reason, stubborn as he was. He knew her words were true; however, this revelation only further served to pain him. “I will not allow my pain to extend towards the students, Enigma. They deserve far more than that. Already, they have seen far too much, both pain and anger directed towards them, even so young as they are. Bearing this in mind, you must understand why it is that I refuse to further contribute to such experiences.”   He wasn’t referring to the students alone. No, Enigma included, he would not allow his own anguish to affect the lives of those around him. Not any more than it already had. “Why can’t you see that it’s far easier for me to suffer alone? Easier on yourself, on all of you.” His jaw clenched, fingers twitching once more against the arm of his chair, gaze flickering away in a growing frustration, "please. I have always known best for you, you said it yourself, once." The memory, of Enigma declaring such a statement as Charles nursed her bruised cheek, forced a smile from those now chapped lips.

"Did I fall asleep?"

Avatar

“You’re waking, aren’t you?” A wry smile pulled at his lips, shutting the book of which he had previously allowed to captivate him. “You’ve slept seemingly uninterrupted for the past hour or so,” he turned his body to face her, offering her his full attention, “How do you feel?" The night prior had exhausted the both of them, and he knew it had taken a far greater toll on Zorii than it had on himself.

Send one of these in my askbox to see how my muse reacts

“Everyone ends up alone.” "Stay close to me." "We need to get away." "This is all for you.” "How could you be so heartless?" "There’s gotta be another way out." “I’ve tried forever getting out on my own.” “I don’t wanna fight alone anymore.” “I never thought you would really go.” “I was being such a fool.” “But I can’t live without you.” “If I wanted to leave I would have left by now.” "Don’t let me down.” “And now I’m feeling stupid.” “I’ll only stay with you one more night.” “What’s that supposed to mean?” “Can’t take it no more.” “I used to pretend that I felt okay.” “I’ve failed you again.” “God knows that I tried…” “I was dreaming for so long.” "You are the piece of me I wish I didn’t need.” “If our love’s insanity, why are you my clarity?” "We both know how this ends." “This is not what I do.” “Is that alright?” “Am I even human?” "I’m a mess." "At least I’ve always been myself.” “No one knows my heart.” “I don’t know what I’m doing.” “There is something that you need to let me know.” “Be honest please.” “Say you’ll stay.” "I’ll look after you." “I wasn’t looking for this.” "Here’s my number." “Where do you think you’re going, baby?” “I missed you so bad.” "You see?" "Come on let’s go and play!" “Be my baby.” “Don’t you ever say I just walked away.” “I will always want you.” “I never meant to start a war.” “I just wanted you to let me in.” “I guess I should’ve let you win.” "You make me crazy from happiness." "You’re my prince from the fairy tale." "Where do I go if you leave?" "I was afraid you don’t care about me." “I can’t forget you.” “I’m your destiny.” “You are like frost.” “We just have to wait until the next life.” "We need to talk." “Where did I go wrong?” "I lost a friend." “If I don’t say this now I will surely break.” “I’m losing my control.” “What’s mine is yours to leave or take.” “You’ve begun to feel like home.” “If that’s what you want…” “But I’m only human!” “I bleed…” "I can do it!" “Don’t let them in.” “Let it go.” "We only have each other."  “Okay, can I just, say something crazy?” "We are meant to be."

≾∬ ”I had fun,” Sebastian chuckled darkly as he stared at Charles, gauging his every reaction to what he’d done and was clear that he was shocked above much else. Hand running through Charles’ hair slowly from where he knelt, he lowered himself to his level, hand dragging around to his chin and tilting his head back gently in an attempt to capture his gaze. “This is who I am.”

”I expected more from you," he hissed, the student's initial shock and concern giving way to frustration, anger fueling his words with a ferocious passion as he continued. "Despite what you've done," he continued, gaze sharp even as his voice began to border on desperation, practically pleading for the man he'd come to love to show himself, "I know this isn't you. You don't enjoy this, Sebastian." A pause, lips pursed, "I don't believe you ever have."   Charles had seen the man at his worst, sobbing brokenly into his hands as he lay in pieces. Subtle glimpses of his companion's mind had offered him insight into Sebastian's world of pain and anger, shattered memories which seemed to reek of death-- bearing this in mind, he knew the man found no joy in such deeds. He couldn't.   Yet, even despite his own reassurance, doubt began to insistently pull at his chest; a sick, nagging sensation. Perhaps he'd been wrong, foolish to believe Sebastian had ever loathed the sleek feel of a gun in his hands.   Repulsed by this sudden train of thought, he tipped his head away from those calloused hands, ones he previously would have adorned with the softest of kisses, "or is that why you're here? To convince me otherwise? For Christ's sake, Sebastian, those were innocent lives you took--"

“Explain yourself." In the past five years of her attending his school, this was the first time he had grown truly frustrated with her, fingers tapping against the wheel of his chair in a genuine display of agitation. "What were you doing, lingering about the halls when you and I both know you should have been in class." He expected more from her. The best from her.

“I've already begun to regret this meeting, and it's barely been all of ten minutes." What on Earth had led him to believe this reunion might offer them a chance at reconciliation? "It was foolish of me to even suggest it," the Professor mused, lips pursed.

"For God's sake, Raven, listen to yourself-- You can't honestly stand there and expect me to believe he's managed to convince you of such nonsense." He paused, turning to face his sibling where they stood on the busy streets of New York, the fall of night only lessened by the steady glow of city lights.

Charles clenched his jaw against the words, the truth of them, eyelids fluttering shut before, "there is nothing for you here, Enigma." These words had nearly been shouted, held, barely restrained, through clenched teeth. "There is nothing I can offer you-- I have done my part. Just as you have yours." He couldn't dare to look at her, for he feared what he might see. That he might see himself, reflected in her gaze-- that he might come to realize just how ridiculous he looked; brooding hopelessly over a man and woman who had abandoned him, their dream, without a second thought.   "You can leave, Enigma." Continued, in a softer tone, a broken tone-- "please."

"People have died because of you!"

Avatar

"Deaths of which I took no direct part in," the Professor was obviously displeased with the accusation, brow furrowed, lips pursed as he clasped his fingers. "If I'm not mistaken, Erik," a slow blink, cerulean gaze calculative as they rose to Max's own, "thousands more have died as a result of your own hands. Or have we forgotten that? Doubtfully. You've not grown senile yet." Normally, such a jab would be enough to incite a chuckle between the two men. Now, however, there was little room for amusement.
