Since I’ve gotten pretty damn close to 200 followers over here [despite the rather long hiatus and bouts of inactivity] I’ve decided to do a giveaway. Her eyes moved up to finally look him in the eyes. He was a handsome man, that she had never denied. She saw less anger now, and more simple questioning. “I… I served your mother, the Queen,” she answered simply. “She spoke so fondly of you, and wished that you could, that you would be happy. I couldn’t help her,” Elizabeth said softly. “I couldn’t save her. But she wished that I care for you, watch over you.”

Loki gave a very subtle furrow of his brows and rose his chin to the girl, intrigued and amused. He was right to think the girl was a servant of his mother, she always had the young women in her care to protect them from the harsh work of the other areas in the palace. "What could you possibly need to watch over me for? You're a servant. I am a King. What makes you believe I need your help?"

  His voice ringing out startled her, and she jumped back, placing herself in plain sight. Swallowing, she stepped forward, bowing her head and kneeling in front of him. “I’m sorry, sorry my King,” she murmured, not meeting his eyes. Elizabeth didn’t know what to tell him, how to answer his question. “May I… be of service to you, my King?” she finally asked, hoping to distract him.

"Why have you been following me?" He asks bluntly, his eyes staring forward for a second more before looking down toward the kneeling subject before him. Yes, he had definitely seen her face before, but he had no name in his mind. Perhaps she was a servant in the kitchens.. perhaps a maid to Frigga. He wasn't sure, there were so many places a young woman could have been needed in the palace.

Loki and Elizabeth - Watchful Care

Even though she knew he might sense her presence, Elizabeth hid behind the pillar, close to the throne. She had not been able to save her Queen, and to this day it weighed on her. This was one thing she could do for her, however. Frigga had spoke often of Loki, how she feared and worried for him. Just before she had died, Frigga had told Elizabeth that she trusted her to keep Loki in her care, to watch over him somehow. So she stayed close to him, always trying to stay out of sight. It was the least she could do, for her Queen.

"It is not polite to stare." Loki spoke harshly, his tone low but his voice filling the entire chamber. He couldn't see the young woman's face but he could see tufts of her blonde hair peeking out from behind the pillar at the end of the hall. He sat on his thrown as he always did, stoic and contemplative on the outside, but his mind was a fury of schemes and emotion. He would have preferred to be left alone to his thoughts for the time being, but once again he found himself being watched by a female he'd seen several other times since Frigga's death, and some time before that. She was familiar to him but he hadn't bother to know her, only now he wanted to know why she was so fixed with him. "What do you want?"

Crystallin whirled on her toes when she felt his breath stir the hair against her neck. There was a sharp tone in her voice that warned him she was tired of his tricks. After all morning - who would blame her? Thor or Odin certainly wouldn’t have been this patient with Loki. Really he should have felt lucky that she hadn’t struck him or immediately left to find a guard. Granted it would have made them enemies, but that wasn’t even what stopped her. There were dragons at stake here.

"I will not. … Not yet," she answered, crossing her arms. "But as it stands - a degree o’ trust is demanded out o’ this partnership. Not for you," she reminded firmly, "but if this secrecy is necessary for our goal then I don’t have much choice. … Lie t’ me though an’ it’s going t’ be much more difficult than either of us want."

Loki chuckled deeply in the darkness, his face still just a few inches from hers. Little did she know that this was all part of his game, he loved the push and pull of trust and tension. It made his curious about her and her abilities. "Contrary to popular belief.. I am capable of the truth."

Loki lets out a loud laugh, shaking his head softly. “Ah.. you are certainly of my blood.. but you haven’t even told me your plan, Hela. How can I trust that you will succeed in such a purpose if I don’t know what you intend to do?” 

{ ❦ } “How can I trust the God of lies?” Hela frowned “You are my father, yes, but you are also the liar, the trickster…I am sure you would find a way to take advantage of my plan, this is my war, this is my justice, my revenge. I will start Ragnarök if I have to”

Loki stopped and took a second to stare into the blackness ahead of him, letting his thoughts process before he turned back to face her. “I will prepare you for what I feel you need preparing for.” He takes several slow steps toward her, taking advantage of the fact that she probably couldn’t see much more of him than the outline of a shadow. But he could see her, his eyes glowed slightly and his body was accustomed to these dark halls. “I haven’t misjudged your abilities, have I?”

Her anger flared and she hoped he could feel her gaze searing into him. She could see glints of perhaps what might be his eyes and she could tell his voice was coming from in front of her.

"Do not mistake my unease for a lack o’ skill Loki. I simply mean that if I am t’ help you, we’re going t’ need a long talk about what actually needs t’ be done. I’m not particularly fond o’ the idea that you think I need t’ be taught anything aside from your prior knowledge so we can skip over that an’ start with something that will yield progress," she snapped, trying not to yell or raise her voice too much though. It seemed a rather delicate balance between reminding him that she was no lackey and feeding his ego just enough to keep him from snapping in a more dangerous way.

Loki let out a soft chuckle, moving toward her again. His feet were soft on the tiles, almost as if he were gliding silently in her direction. He had to admit he found her feistiness amusing, intriguing even. There was something curious about a person that could stand up to Loki with no fear, better yet a woman that had the stomach to do it. He pushed down his desire to strike the disobedience out of her and nodded, moving behind her without a sound. He leaned forward, his breath ghosting against her neck and making her hair flutter around her shoulder. "Forgive me.." He whispered, his amusement peering through his voice. Loki was a master of persuasion, trickery and illusion. He knew the right amount of charm to toss into his threats to get what he wanted. "Perhaps we can learn from each other then"
