Considering the orderly is involved Hannibal really should not be surprised. Contempt tastes like something slimy in his mouth. The last thing he remembers before someone knocked him down was the orderly’s smirking face, like an echo of memories he tried to cast out as figments of imagination, as not real. And yet falling to the ground, this smirk like cutting him open with waves of humiliation, Hannibal couldn’t even bring himself to feel ambushed. Lately he thought he had been seeing them at every corner, haunting ghosts of past, present future, pushing him into unfamiliar territory of paranoia.

Can we please talk about how Hannibals fingers clench the back of Wills head with such a force that not only shows the deep emotional bond that Hannibal thought they had, but proves the love and passion Hannibal had for this man and who clearly meant the world to him, but Will was obviouly too frightened to return the same feelings and in the end got stabbed as a brutal reminder to never toy with Hannibals emotions.
