Words honestly cannot express how excited I am to have RTD back at the helm of Doctor Who.
It was about a decade ago that I watched my first episode of the show. I fell in love with the first four seasons, and binge watched my way through the show quickly. By the time that I was through with season 4, I had created this Tumblr account, and learned that a new show runner had taken over at the beginning of season 5. I was completely caught up on the show by season 6 (which feels like forever ago now), and watched new episodes as they aired.
While I have kept up with the show, as my love of the show transcends any one show runner, I have never connected with the show in the same way I connected with the first four seasons. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that my favorite showrunner would return in any lasting capacity. The most I dared hope for was that he would come back to write an episode or two in the future.
This morning, one of my dear friends who I met through the DW fandom a decade ago, messaged me saying that she had heard that Russell T Davies was back. Admittedly, my first thought was that this can't be true. It seems like one of those headlines that clickbait sites would use. I have never been more happy to be wrong.
All that is to say that I am thrilled that RTD is back, and can't wait to see which direction he will take the show this time.
