Beautiful red hen made out of chicken wire by Helen Godfrey Wire Sculpture i have seen this shared around chicken pages on facebook.

I really liked this hen so i went to the artists page and I am floored at the skill and beauty of these sculptures. Anyone who has built anything with the help of chicken wire knows that it is not an easy material to work with but this artist is able to make very realistic organic shapes with it. I love the softness, i love the wire people and how the wild birds use them as perches.

Mother duck with duckling

Runner beans, they are so funny and whimsical

Sculptures about to go to their new home, the hare and owl are amazing and the guineas look just like the real thing lol

A beautiful barn owl

A cute little wren

The wire women. I love how soft their curves are

Im so thankful that i got to see this artists work its so sweet.

Here is her store page but i dont think she has any new sculptures up yet.

Maybe my absolute favorite thing about episode 8 is the fact that Niffty, the two foot tall ghost of a lobotomized 1950’s housewife, was the one to kill the inventor of sexism.

I genuinely love that so much, she deserves this, she’s my favorite thing ever. Perfect choice.

pro-AI in the sense of "they taught a bread scanning computer to recognize cancer cells" etc etc

against AI in the sense of "we stole artwork from hundreds to thousands of artists, didn't credit them and didn't financially compensate them"

There's one charity that I haven't seen shared here personally, and that's Care for Gaza.

They're shared a lot on twitter as a reputable on-the-ground relief source. You can donate to their gofundme to help their efforts here.

They’re a grassroot organisation that regularly supply Palestinians with fresh food!

Rashida Tlaib has set up a petition to send to the White House to recognize and stop the ethnic cleansing and forced displacement happening in Gaza. If you’re a US citizen please sign. I have no illusions that this will change policy, but the public outcry against their actions must continue. We will not be distracted or discouraged from continuing to object to these humans rights violations.

five hundred and thirty people laid off from riot. We aren't even one month into 2024.

there is no security in the work within game development. My dad would tell me 'just work hard, be essential and earn your place' but that isn't how it is anymore. You could be the best, most amazing artist, as so many of my friends who were laid off were, and it doesn't matter. They will get rid of you just as easily. I don't even know what to feel anymore, but as someone who had been laid off in the past, I cannot convey how devastating it is to have your life uprooted just like that.

Zack Zweizen is making an effort to chronicle every industry layoff over at Kotaku and not even a month in we're almost at 4,000 people who have lost or will lose their jobs.

I do reccommend everyone try to keep track of this because it's important to be aware of, and try to support devs where you can

i hate when americans get asked about the israeli/palestinian conflict and they say “well it’s not really my place to have an opinion” our country literally funds genocide against the palestinian people in the name of “defense” it absolutely is our business, we should be as mad as we can as loudly as possible.

man.

I’m just here to remind everyone once again that we can’t stop protesting and boycotting and spreading the word for Palestine, even if it’s been a while. The people in power (mainly the Israeli and US governments) are relying on us losing steam.

And I do want to mention that a small bit of hope to be found among all of this is that things aren’t losing steam. I still see dozens of posts about Palestine every day, I see footage of protests almost every day, and the boycotts are working. I just want to encourage everyone that we just need to keep it up! I’ve seen so many social issues fade out over time, a week of outrage and then things settle down, but that isn’t the case here and I really respect everyone who’s still posting and protesting and seeking out information to end this once and for all. Focus on that hope, and use it to keep going :)

goddddd nanami and anthy’s dynamic makes me insane. i hate you because i am you. i hate you because i’m scared of you, and i’m scared of being like you (i already am). i’ll hurt you so i can prove we’re two different people and i am so much better than you, so much less sick. i see myself in you and you in myself and that scares me, and i can’t flee so i’ll fight. also i’ll send you a fuckass magic cowbell and put snails in your pencil case loser

the idea of eternity in utena is so interesting. initially "there is no such thing as something eternal" is the thought that sends utena spiraling into suicidality, which is understandable, since the idea that everything will end someday is terrifying. especially to a child. especially to a child who just encountered one of the most traumatizing and violent "endings" possible, the deaths of her parents. but then she's shown that apparently something can be eternal. and that something is pain, which is even worse, but at least gives her something to live for. and then by the end of the show it's like. no, pain isn't eternal either. "there is no such thing as something eternal" is reframed as a positive. eternity is Not Good. eternity is everything staying the same forever, never changing for the better. it's the opposite of revolution. it's what akio wants, perpetuating the system that benefits him at the cost of everyone else forever and ever. and no matter what utena might have thought, it is not what she wants.

Seeing this post again I'm reminded of how in the finale Aiko is strongly associated with a carousel- sure it does revolve, but it doesn't ever move. Aiko's vision of revolution is only one in a technical sense; anyone can tell you that a revolution that stays in place isn't really a revolution at all.

I'm also reminded of the political idea of the "end of history"- the idea that humanity either has created or will create a political/economic system capable of existing in perpetuity, bringing an end to the cycles of instability that drive history on a macro scale. A system without a need for (or is capable of indefinitely suppressing) revolution. When Aiko calls himself "The End of the World", I think this is what he means.

He wants to be the man at the end of history, riding his stupid little carousel powered by suffering forever.
