One Day at a Time Season 4 preview: takes a jab at Netflix
Sandra Oh for Porter
Sandra Oh is a trooper, too: bristling with energy, hyper-engaged, determined to be authentic and squeeze every drop out of life. She doesn’t do many interviews. I suspect their one-sidedness bores her. But conversations, where she can actually learn things about other people, those she likes.
“You’ll have to ask Phoebe Waller-Bridge how my hair became a narrative point in Killing Eve [laughs]. It’s like there’s something free or wild about Eve’s nature that I do think comes out in the hair.”

#tbf sim root was suspicious because in shaw’s mind she believed that’s what a person would typically do#even root#whom shaw knows loves her#shaw is unable to gage the depth of root’s love and contextualize what that love means#when you’re like shaw you have these scripts or outlines of people’s behavior based on observations and experience#and when you encounter something you haven’t experienced you apply the closest model and guess the rest#shaw has not been in that type of situation with root where trust and loyalty were in question on shaws end#but she has been in that situation with other people#so shaw took what she knew from her experience with other’s and applied it to guess what root’s behavior would be#assuming root would follow the usual script and helped with a dose of paranoia from what samaritan assumes human behavior would dictate#but the thing about root#is that she never acts according to script#her behavior constantly deviates outside shaw’s set of parameters for typical human behavior#because root also has a pd#one that is hyperemotion and very much ride or die in the literal sense#shaw operates in the grey#root in absolutes#and shaw has zero context for someone like that#especially when that obsessive ride or die I can’t live without you emotion is directed at her#so sim root operates according to shaws best guess with some help from samaritan#shaw has no way of knowing that root had hit the level of emotions where root would rather take her own life#than live without shaw#root is a variable shaw can’t chart even though from the audience pov root is very predictable#and that’s what makes her stand out to shaw and part of what makes them work as a couple so damn well#they balance each other in way that is extraordinary and never been done before in main stream#root and shaw ( @archaeomedic )
this is our moment, can I hear an amen?
You know how I know you’re not broken?
How?
Because everybody loves you.
No, they don’t, dude.
