Someone can be madly in love with you and still not be ready. They can love you in a way you have never been loved and still not join you on the bridge. And whatever their reasons you must leave. Because you never ever have to inspire anyone to meet you on the bridge. You never ever have to convince someone to do the work to be ready. There is more extraordinary love, more love that you have never seen, out here in this wide and wild universe. And there is the love that will be ready.

This because I have lived both and it is all true.

There used to be so many rabbis in my neighbourhood during the winter, and now that it’s spring they’re gone??? Where did they go? I thought there would be more now, and im sad because they’re cute and I like them, even if they poop in my gardens. Then again, there’s a coyote around, so maybe it ate the poor things.

i was really confused before i realized you probably meant bunnies and not jewish teachers

All of these women are Jewish. Let’s not erase that.

NO ONE GIVES A FUCK IF THEY’RE JEWISH OR HISPANIC OR WHITE OR BLACK OR ASIAN OR MUSLIM OR HINDU, WHY CAN’T WE JUST APPRECIATE THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS.

because representation is important, and not to mention that two of these women are actively practicing jews

mayim bialik is a modern orthodox jewish woman who would read the torah on set between filming scenes for The Big Bang Theory, and natalie portman grew up studying at jewish schools and speaks hebrew, and often speaks about how important judaism is to her in interviews

i’m a jewish girl and i “give a fuck” that these cool ladies are all jewish too

recognizing that facts takes nothing away from their achievements: if anything, it makes those achievements even grander when you consider they all belong to an extreme minority that has been shunned and faced hatred around the world

not to mention that Hedy Lamarr was an Austrian-Jewish woman inventing this tech and starring in movies during the era of Nazi fucking Germany

so that’s why stating their ethnicity matters

Reblogging again because commentary.

It’s Selma that’s making my head spin. Ava DuVernay was, frankly, robbed of a Best Director nomination - a nomination that would have made history. She would have been the first black woman nominated for the award, the fourth black person and the fifth woman. And get this - she deserved it! The Bloody Sunday sequence alone makes the case for her inclusion, although I’d say the rest of the film is very well directed. Also left out from Selma is Bradford Young, who shot two of the best looking movies this year (A Most Violent Year, totally shut out, was the other). How does he not make the cut? How does David Oyelowo not get nominated for an incredible turn as Martin Luther King? And when you think about Selma being left out of the Best Screenplay race, think about this - the movie couldn’t use any of Dr. King’s actual speeches due to rights issues (Dreamworks owns the speeches, believe it or not). All of the speeches in that movie were written for the movie.

Dick Poop Or, The Expected Ignorance Of Oscar Nominations

Even if you expected the Oscar noms to be bad, you couldn’t have expected them to be this bad.

But I don’t want small talk. Text me, and without saying hello, tell me why you got so angry at your sister this morning. Tell me why you have a scar shaped like Europe on the left side of your neck. Send me paragraphs about the time you spent at your grandmother’s house that one summer. Call me when I’m half asleep and tell me why you believe in God. Tell me about the first time you saw your dad cry. Go on for hours about things that may not seem important because I promise that I’ll be hanging on to every word you say. Tell me everything. I don’t want someone who just talks about the weather.

2015 trend: answering the question “are you a feminist?” with the question “are you not?” in order to make not being a feminist sound more like the ridiculous, illogical thing that it is.
