My favorites from the first half of 2023!
There weren’t a lot of standouts until the end of May/beginning of June when I read The Salt Grows Heavy, The Last Tale of the Flower Bride, and A Marvellous Light in a row. I’m hoping for a great second half to the year though.

giving unread book back to the library makes me feel like i should be shot
So the guilt is absolutely relatable but it’s probably good for their circulation and therefore funding. I think Im going to start checking out books I have no time for just to help with that.
I lump returning an unread book in the same category as food I have to put in compost. Should I have consumed it? Yes. But I am still helping the ecosystem.

I don’t even know if there’s a should with books though. You’re helping funding by checking them out and the only person who cares if you read them is you.

"we learned the right steps to different dances" is such a beautiful way to explain that nobody did anything wrong but it does not work out if you have different goals or different ideals of life, maybe sometimes things don't work out and it is nobodys fault
