me: I don’t want my book to be centred around or focused on romance, that’s just going to be a side plot which isn’t a big deal or anything.

also me: make them fall in love

I keep thinking about what Louis said yesterday to Anthony after his performance and how important that was. It’s so easy to get stuck on one tiny mistake and not see the bigger picture, especially when it comes to yourself and I love that Louis’ first reaction was to tell Anthony that he doesn’t care about that one note. I love that instead of trying to be some scary, authoritative judge who you constantly have to prove your worth to, Louis chooses to be kind and comforting. Even when he gives criticism it’s always constructive and comes from the heart. He doesn’t care about that one little broken note. He tells his contestants that you can do better and not that you need to do better. He gives them hugs and shows them how proud they make him. There’s endless support that is reflected in the way his contestants root for each other even though they are competing for the same thing.

Louis is not just a judge, he’s a mentor and everything with him comes from the place of love and understanding. He doesn’t try to assert his dominance by being ruthless or brutally honest. He has a big heart and that is the true reason to what makes him so powerful.
