super junior’s kyuhyun performed a cover of jonghyun’s “y si fuera ella” during his final performance on mbc’s king of masked singer. with this performance, he closed off a streak of five consecutive wins in performing the song, which he revealed the meaning of the performance of in the above video. trigger warning for allusions / mentions of december 18th, death and grief in the video.  jonghyun and kyuhyun were close friends and briefly promoted together in late 2010 through the first promotional cycle of sm’s ballad subunit, sm the ballad, along with trax’s jay and pentagon’s jinho.
