We caught up with healthy lifestyle blogger Jess Hoffman of Choosing Chia to gather some healthy food inspiration and get her take on how Β to stay balanced and glowing in the new year!
Q&A with Choosing Chia
Bio: Jess is a yogi and health food blogger, who promotes a healthy and balanced lifestyle through her yoga classes, and health food blog choosingchia.com. The goal of Choosing Chia is to teach people that healthy eating can be delicious, and to create a network of people who feel good, inside and out!Β
Q: How long have you been practicing yoga and how did you begin your yoga journey? My mom brought me to my first yoga class about 6 years ago. I instantly fell in love with the practice. I began to feel more calm, more confident, and more in tune with the world around me. This past year, I took a big step and hoped on a plane to India where I completed Yoga Instructor's certification. It was the best decision I've ever made! Q: What made you decide to create your blog "Choosing Chia"? There is a common misconception that healthy food does not taste good. The truth is healthy and wholesome foods can be delicious! I'm always playing around in the kitchen creating new fun and tasty recipes, and I decided to share them with others who may be on a journey towards a more healthy and balanced lifestyle. From that, Choosing Chia was born. Q: What is your favorite pre or post-yoga snack? My superfood granola bars! They're packed with seeds, nuts, and whole grains that keep me energized all day long! Β Q: What 3 staple ingredients can you not live without? Dates, almonds, and oats! I use these ingredients in so many great recipes! Q: Where do you find your inspiration for your recipes? For your yoga practice? Who influences/motivates you in the yoga/healthy eating community? I love to draw recipe inspiration from the seasons. A trip to the farmers market and seeing all the fresh produce that is available always sparks some great creativity! My yoga practice is largely inspired by the world around me. Great teachers, great friends, and a great yoga community. From these different elements I find the inspiration to practice, to teach, and just to have fun with it all! I'm a huge fan of Kino Macgregor, Meghan Currie, and Tara Stiles. These women have inspired me and motivated me along my yogic journey. Q: What is your mantra or favorite quote? "When nothing goes right, go left." This quote resonates with me because we are all in control of our own lives. To every question, we can create an answer.
