Appearances were important. Her parents had taught her that. Even if one couldn’t afford a governess, then one would make do by calling their dog a Nanna. Parties meant moving up in business, and only proper young ladies could attract a suitable husband. Things that remained ingrained even during the curse. Wendy was the type of girl who would save for one item of quality rather than choosing the bargain for quantity, and frankly Cruella’s shop was the only one of quality in town. Fake smiles were simple to overlook when they were simply the way of polite conversation among business, and the service was the only acceptable in such a small town.
