Read this in “stats & curiosities from HBR”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Showing very feminine women in typical "male domains" does not teach girls that women can achieve anything they want. It teaches them that women have to be feminine to achieve anything at all. That way, femininity and beauty become preconditions for success in fields that have absolutely nothing to do with how you look or how your dress.

it tells them that they can never escape.

The Host - Episode 26. For this episode, I went with a simple style similar to some silent movie posters from the 20’s and 30’s. I was also inspired by some of the original poster art for “The Creature From the Black Lagoon”. A brand spanking new poster premieres tomorrow and keep an eye out for an update on poster sales soon!

Children conceived through rape will be officially classified as victims of crime under new government plans.

The changes, due to be made in the forthcoming Victims Bill, will entitle those conceived as a result of rape access to information about their case.

The legal changes will also make it easier for victims to receive support from police and the criminal justice system "whenever they may need it".

The law will cover all sexual offences which can result in pregnancy.

England and Wales are understood to be among the first nations in the world to officially confer victim status to children born of rape.

This is SO good.

The woman who inspired this law, ‘Daisy’, was conceived by statutory rape when her father was an adult and her mother was I believe 13. Her very existence proves her father raped her mother under uk law, but her mother wasn’t willing/able to bring charges, and under the old law she wasn’t able to press charges herself, because she wasn’t legally recognised as being impacted by the crime. I’m so happy for her that her hard work is paying off, and will benefit her and others!

I feel like this behavior stems from women being taught to value and desire relationships (familial, romantic, academic, etc) with men above all else, but then when they do pursue and prioritize these relationships with males, they eventually find that what they give to men— dedication, respect, sacrifice, unconditional love— is not returned. There is little reciprocation. And because women are taught to value men’s valuation of them above all else, and the men in their lives aren’t valuing them, this leaves her feeling unfulfilled and worthless as a person.

But, she might think, (subconsciously perhaps), there’s still one way to fill this hole, this lack of male love and respect in her life. She can create a male child, and as his mother, he will by default love her unconditionally, value her, respect her. Everything she always desperately wanted from the males in her life but never got. The male child fills this emotional hole for her, at least while he is young, and she is thrilled. That’s my theory as to why boymoms are like this.

"I could be really brash and really loud and really dressed however I wanted to and almost made [Chappell] on purpose a drag version of myself so I can be whatever I want. It allows me to feel really safe exploring those aspects of myself. I’d never be able to do that if I took myself super seriously with pop. I think that the project has allowed me to be a part of the queer community in a deeper way because I'm not observing from the outside anymore. I feel like I'm in it. I am the queer community–it's allowed me to just feel queer, feel like a queer person and feel freedom in that."

I hate glow up posts cause it's usually one of these situations:

a very predictably pretty 20 something showing a literal photo of herself as a child as her before

a thin woman who was once fat but otherwise her style is like...the same. okay.

someone poor who is now rich and can afford shitty high end clothes but is otherwise living a beige ass life

a man

glow ups I do like:

a woman who has been lifting!!

a woman who was married and miserable now divorced and traveling and happy!!!!
