Islam should make you a better person. More gentle and more kind. The more I learn, I realize that gentleness is so important. Try to understand people, have empathy, and be patient with them. No matter who they are. Don’t look down on others. Recognize that everyone is at their own level and working their way up. This is what I have learned from the sunnah. The Prophet was always so gentle and understanding with the companions.

'Umar b. al-Khattāb رضي الله عنه said: “A man must be like a young boy (friendly and joyous) towards his family but when the call of duty is given, he is found responding like a man.”
