The freeshooter’s dozing on and off, sprawled across a couch.
Agreed.
He almost weighed in on the booty discourse. But he’s got a container of almonds, a newspaper, and a cup of coffee. Wiser to keep his mouth shut.
“Yeah?” Terra hummed, resting his head on Xigbars shoulder as he thought it over. “I can see that. It would suit you actually. “ He chuckled. “Maybe one day you can do that. Have a tavern of your own or something.”
“Could see just about anyone comin’ in to bitch about their woes. Might be an interesting experience.” A small chuckle, and a hand comes up to ruffle Terra’s hair.
“Thanks.” He smiled, turning his head to give Xigbar another curious look. “And what about you? I know you were a guard here for some time, do you think that’s something you would have stuck with or would you want another life?”
“....Honestly?” There’s a moment of silence.
“I might’ve enjoyed being a bartender. I spent a lot of time in the local tavern in the past, and I’ve enjoyed making drinks, learning about drinks, and all that. Plus, you hear all the good, juicy gossip, because everyone confides in you.”
“Mhm. And I like the work too. I’ve never really thought about what I would do, if I wasn’t a wielder. I always thought I would be a Master but I think this is what I’d like to do. Just stay here and fix things.”
“You’re good with your hands. In another life, I could easily see you being a craftsman. Building things, repairing things, generally doing a good job and taking pride in honest, hard work.”
Terra let out a soft chuckle, leaning in a little “Nothing as elaborate as you. There were a few empty houses that needed fixing up for new residents so I offered my time, that way the others could worry about more important things. They seem a little stretched thin.”
“Construction work, then?” Its easy enough to picture Terra with a hammer, hauling new boards around and repairing the damage to homes. “I’m certain they appreciated the help. That group is always stretched thin.”
“Hm?” His head tilted a little and at Xigbar’s beckoning, Terra shifted over a little more on the cushion until he was sitting at Xigbars side. He gave the older man a curious look, eyebrow raised.
“Tell me more about what you’ve been doing on the side.” An arm is lazily looped around Terra’s shoulders, dragging him in closer.
“Mhm.” The younger man nodded his head a little in agreement. “It eases the guilt a little while also helping the people here. It also helps me sleep a little better at night here, knowing that I’m trying.”
Xigbar says nothing; merely gives a nod of agreement of his own. After a moment, he raises a hand, and gives it a short wave, suggesting Terra should sit a little closer to him.
“That’s actually really sweet Xig.” He smiled a little. “I started helping out when I have the time. Just little things when they let me. I feel responsible for the way things look now.”
“Yeah, same here. And...yanno. We’ll never really make up for how bad shit got, but we’re doing what we can, where we can. Yeah?”
Terra climbed over the back of the couch and slid down onto the cushion next to the other. “Yeah? Sounds like you helped out a lot. You decided to do that all on your own?”
“Yeah, Its become something of a ‘project’ of mine. Started out as a guilt thing, probably---but now its something I want to do for the sake of seeing this place better than it is, and closer to what it had been.”
“I hear someone was a busy bee.” Leaning against the back of the couch, he gives him a grin. “Get a lot of work done?”
“I sure did, Terr. There was a collapsed section of the Castle that the Committee’s been working on for a month. Fancy that, they’re gonna be able to get through, and assess whether or not the wing past the blockade will be usable, and salvage what they can if not, before blocking it all back off.”
sixba:
A certain little lion was excited to see him. “You’re back! You’re back!” Cue him jumping up and down on said couch forcing himself to be in Xigbar’s lap as he held his coffee and book. “I missed you!”
And just like that, his book is occupied by a fuzzy lion cub sitting on it. “Hey twerp. Good to see you again.” He’ll move his now-free hand to Simbas head, giving the spikier fur there a tussle.
“Well, that was a productive week. I think I’ve earned a few days off now.” In fact; catch him on a couch, with a book in hand, and a cup of coffee.
“If anyone needs me over the next couple’a days, I’ll be in the old castle of Radiant Garden, shifting fallen shit around.”
“The amount of time it takes to move debris, even with abilities like mine, and the help of subordinates with similar abilities---is atrocious.”
