My toon I roleplay on Wyrmrest Accord Horde side

Prologue

Sea charts were scattered across the long wide table that sat in the middle of the room. Tiny figurines of boats, and people stood ontop of these charts. Some were on their sides, probably toppled by some powerful entity. Krow sat on his dark brown leather chair with his feet propped up on the table.

The heavy wooden door swung open with a bang.

“Captain! Captain!” The large green skinned figure panted as he doubled down, hands on his knees.

“Haven’t I told ya not to disturb me?” The captain said disgruntled by the intrusion of the crew member.

“Aye Captain, but you need to see this.” Kuurag had regained his breath. The orc stood fairly large amongst the of crew members, lumbering roughly six foot five or six foot seven. His sheer size dwarfed the Captain. “We have found it at last.”

The goblin’s ears perked up by this news, his jaw loosened and his eyes shot wide.

Pursuing the Dream

The panel “Living Blizzard: Pursuing Your Passion” has been just really uplifting, especially for someone who is trying to really get started and be a face in the community, like myself.

I’ve been gaining visibility as an artist since early 2014, but I’ve actually been drawing all my life. I’ve been posting my art on the internet since 2001. I’ve been trying all that time to be better, contribute to my fandoms, draw people’s OCs, and make people happy. (I’d be really happy to find people who knew my art from pre-tumblr days! I was “Mith” almost everywhere.)

It just strikes me that sometimes, I get really low and sad that I’m not growing as fast as I want to…but I really do have to remind myself that as of right now, I’m somewhere over 4000 followers here on tumblr, and that’s all from painting WoW OCs! I’m very passionate about bringing people’s characters to life. I want to make sure they look as perfect as I can, because I am a writer and RPer as well as an artist! I’m also a musician, and have composed a good dozen or so theme songs for my own characters. Now I’m getting into cosplay, having known how to knit since 2005 and loved every minute of it, and finally dipping into makeup tutorials with some help from friends to learn how to create stunning looks on a different kind of canvas! I love what I do, plain and simple.

That said, something I heard in the panel pushed me to write this post. I’ve been in the position where sometimes a more popular artist puts out something simple, yet they get a lot of attention for it, and I feel bad about my own art. But then again, I’ve seen my careless scribbles get more attention than I think they deserve. It brought to mind the heartache that surely some other artists feel when they see a piece of work they spent hours and hours on just…not go anywhere, yet I can scribble for 20 minutes and have a good 60-100 notes.

(I’m happy with that. Do I aspire for thousands? Sure! But I don’t need thousands to feel good about my work. If I break 60, I’m happy. <3 That’s become my personal standard right now – just 60.)

I don’t consider myself a “big name” yet. I’m climbing, but not quite there yet. Still, I just want to say to those who are also still climbing…keep refining those skills, keep displaying your vision, and remember that “getting good” is separate from “getting popular”. It really is a different kind of skill set, learning to navigate public speaking, spotting popular trends, and participating in social media… Sometimes it’s extremely scary. I’m actually scored as 88% introverted on all of my typology tests, and I have pretty bad social anxiety….but I was born a performer, of all things. It’s my passion to perform, and I have to make myself remember that. It started with music; now it’s creativity and art. I actually have dreams of going back to the Blizzcon stage to perform some musical number someday! XD As silly as that sounds, it’s not impossible. I never thought I’d end up walking in the cosplay show, but I managed that! I never thought I’d even get to Blizzcon, actually…..like, ever.

And no, I don’t have tons of financial support. I had a lot of help for Blizzcon2k15, (and I’m extremely grateful!), but for everything else, I work with a $50 art program and a $100 tablet. My streaming software is OpenBroadcast, which is open source (free), and my Gifs are made with ShareX (also free). I buy my games when they’re on sale, and I have to save for things like…splurging on makeup or fabric for cosplay or Halloween. You find ways to make it work.

Your work should speak for you. If it doesn’t, then keep chasing what makes it yours. That’s going to be mostly things like line style, color choice, medium, whether you prefer realism or another kind of stylization…. The panel made a very good point when they said: don’t be jealous of people on the internet, be inspired by people on the internet. I’ve got people in my sight who are better than me, and it hurts sometimes, yes, but….it also leaves me in awe of what they can do. I can’t be upset. Their work is beautiful, and they worked hard to get where they are. They stuck with what made their art unique to them, and that’s why they stand out.

That’s why it’s even more important to find what opens up your creativity and floods you with light. Keep at it. You can do it.

Brand new rp toon.

So after my hiatus of not rping i fucking miss it. I am coming back to wyrmrest accord horde side in the newr future and I have a new toon that i wanna do. Currently name is undecided but it is going to be a crazed goblin mage engineer. He likes to "experiment" so to speak. He infuses his magic abilities into his inventions. He also had a knack for inventing weird contraptions. With that I am going to be writing his previous inventions till I can afford to move the toon off moonguard alliance side. So yeah new writing coming to a Tumblr wall near you!!!!!!! Avast ye land dogs!!!!! Shut up crazzkank wait your turn

Yay OOC stuff.

Currently working on a story right now. It's nearing the end. I think I will make it a two part thing with the second being a bit shorter. Currently it's about 10 pages of written word not sure how long it's going to be once I read through it and edit it. This story will contain some trigger stuff which I will suggest viewer discretion. But other than that things are going good. Hoping really hoping to be done it soon. Sorry to those who've been waiting to hear something from me. Sorry it's taking a while. Seems the only place I can write is at work.
