finnick’s poem the hunger games adventure game. i really liked this a lot more compared to the one from the movie because it did a much better job at connecting to district 4 and obviously annie. (after having this saved as a note on my phone for the last 10? years i finally found a screenshot of it.)

Some interesting things I found out about Sam Claflin’s portrayal of Finnick Odair when researching the character:

I’m going to start off with a note because Claflin prefaced his talks about Finnick with this, but this is what he had in his head about Finnick, what he came up with about the character on his own, or in other words, he’s saying this isn’t stuff that he discussed with Suzanne to figure out if this is what she’d imagined for the character as well.
Claflin says that he thinks Finnick does not have a relationship with his parents, they likely died when he was young in an accident, some sort of rioting, which he says could be where Finnick gets his ideals (pro-rebellion sentiment) from (source).
He says that Finnick is very much used to getting what he wants via his looks, he uses his looks to get what he wants.
Jokingly, he says that Finnick comes off as “a bit of a dick.”
He says that “it’s [Finnick’s] lack of confidence that makes him seem so confident. The fact he is so insecure makes him put up a front as a way of surviving and a way of getting what he wants.”
He also jokes that Finnick cares a lot about his hair (source for the above three points as well).
In a behind the scenes interview for Catching Fire he makes it clear that Finnick is putting his all into befriending Katniss and he thinks that she’s the only person who can change the world.
He says that Finnick is trying so hard to befriend Katniss that it almost backfires, i.e. when he’s trying to befriend her in the Training Center, he tries to “charm the pants off her” but it doesn’t work out the way he plans.
Finnick has a hard time sharing his feelings and emotions because he feels that eyes and ears are on him 24/7 (source for the above two points as well).

the most coupley thing that katniss and peeta do during the entirety of the series is when peeta finishes all of katniss’s food at the celebration at snow’s mansion during the victory tour. there is literally nothing that screams couple more than this. peeta being a supportive fiancé and encouraging katniss to try all the food she wants and finishing what she can’t SCREAMS we are obsessed with each other.
