Project 11: Off the Computer: CARELESS

CARELESS, or CARE LESS, is about how sometimes a person (i.e.: me) needs to let go of the controls and allow the unpredictability of a medium to drive a composition.

This challenge was quite the departure from my usual comfort zone. As I am highly tech-focused, cutting the digital cord was a daunting project mandate.

After struggling with what I could tangibly execute well, I came to realize that the very tactile nature of the project meant, at least for me, errors and mistakes needed to be a very real part of the final piece; no “Undo’s” allowed.

It was this realization that led me to this simple, slightly messy, type driven piece. 

Being a detail oriented person it was a refreshing change to cut loose and make a mess, caring less about what the product would look like and caring more about the experience and process that led me there.

After all this, I think I will definitely be dusting off the old sketchbook to sharpen my skills, offline.
