- Character: Henry
- Fandom: Fire Emblem Awakening
- Reason for Being Hated: Creepy, obsessed with blood, shitty comic relief, annoying, made just to cater to fandom’s bad-boy fetish, complaints about NoA’s localization changing his supports to make him less stepford-smiler and more genuine-creepy. (Note from submitter: I find this questionable myself but it’s a rather silly reason to hate the guy on his own.)
- Character: Robin/Avatar/My Unit
- Fandom: Fire Emblem Awakening
- Reason for Being Hated: “Mary Sue”, the Chrom/Avatar ship is too boring, cliche, shallow, and the support conversation with the female is not as amazing as the one with the male avatar, a poor excuse for self-inserts.
I am not that surprised that the F!Robin is hated also with all of the pictures you used at the bottom pretty contradicts the point of calling her a Mary-Sue and I am not very surprised with the M!Robin not being on here I don’t think he has it as bad as the F!Robin
"Time to tip the scales!" a defense of Robin/MyUnit (Fire Emblem Awakening)
WARNING: HERE THERE BE SPOILERS
I REPEAT, SPOILERS FOR THE ENDING AND PLOT OF FIRE EMBLEM: AWAKENING SHIELD YOUR INNOCENT VIRGIN EYES IF YOU DON’T WANT TO SEE SPOILERS.
I think this’ll probably be the easiest defense I’ve written, but that’s no excuse to half-ass it. So here we go!

“I feel like I’m the only one who ships Male! Morgan and Severa. I mean, they’re really adorable, but no one seems to see that.”
Character: Severa
Fandom: Fire Emblem Awakening
Reason for Being Hated: Mean-spirited, comes off as a bratty jerk, insensitive to others, and excessively tsundere.
—–
I’ll admit I don’t really like Severa, but the reasons people hate her made me think about those reasons and how they tie into her character.
—–
Basically, people hate her because of how she acts. I understand that, even I don’t like how she acts. I think I at least somewhat understand why she acts the way she does though.
Let’s look at Severa, she’s the daughter of the famous and perfect Cordelia. Her mother is very gifted at pretty much anything she does, very attractive, and she’s a model soldier and citizen to her country. Severa already has a giant weight on her shoulders just because of how people see her mother because they now expect her to be just like Cordelia. If you’ve played Hot Spring Scramble, she talks to Lucina and you find out that she feels buried under this expectation because nothing she ever did ever seemed good enough compared to her mother. Heck, she was probably the most ecstatic I’ve seen her in the game when she finds out that she has bigger boobs than her mother because she finally felt like she had something better than her mother.
Now in all honesty, if you were always compared to your basically perfect parent and expected to be just as perfect as them, would you be a happy camper? Especially if you never seemed to do well enough in other’s eyes? I know I wouldn’t and it would probably make me a bit bitter to others, and this is what’s happened with Severa. She’s doesn’t like that her whole life she was compared to her mother, and this has caused her to be the way she is now.
This also makes me think that part of the reason why Severa comes off as bratty is because she wants attention to just her, not the expectation on her shoulders. Quite a few times she uses her charms to get what she wants because(at least to me) it gets people to pay attention to just her as a person. It may come off as bratty, but it’s exclusively her.
As for being a tsundere, I think this is also because of the pressure of being Cordelia’s daughter. Another thing Severa said to Lucina in the Hot Spring Scramble is that she felt like no one ever looked at her as her own person. Every accomplishment she ever did, people just played it off as her being Cordelia’s daughter, which diminished it for her. This happened constantly, and I think it got to the point where she pretty much just shut everyone out because she thought everyone only saw her as Cordelia’s daughter and not Severa. Once you get to the A supports with her parents and an S support with one of the boys, she’s finally opening up because she feels like they see her as not just her mother’s shadow, but as her own person. She’s happy to be able to tear down this wall she built up because of people comparing her to her mother constantly, and she finally starts showing some her true emotions that she locked away as a defense mechanism.

Like I said, I don’t really like Severa but over time I did start to understand why she acted the way she did. She was constantly in her mother’s shadow, and eventually over time it made her bitter. If being nice wouldn’t make people see her as her own person, then she just went to being somewhat selfish, bratty, and mean to the others because even if it didn’t make them like her too much, then at least they saw her as Severa and not just Cordelia’s daughter. She’s an angry teenager who hates being under the pressure of being her mother’s daughter, and I think she’s sort of in the right to be the way she is after all those years.
Even tough the level where you get her was pretty annoying she is still my favourite female in the game personally it’s because I really love Tsundere characters and she is one of the best characters to use .

Defending Nia Teppelin
I quite often see people hating Nia for some reason or another, usually for unfair reasons. So let’s try and refute some of these less valid complaints people have against her. There’ll probably be some spoilers ahead, so be careful
I sometimes feel like I am the only who loves Chrom x FeMU and Chrom x Sumia.

Enough! Violence is not allowed here at Maison Izumo. Is that understood?
The thing this confession said abut Cheria that is the same thing with Marta I bet if she was a guy people would think Marta’s feelings for Emil are adorable and not annoying or unhealthy and Emil x Marta would be shipped like FedEx and another character who I think would be loved if she where a guy that is also from the Tales series is Natalia from Tales of the Abyss it’s pretty much for the same reason as Cheria and Marta and I think the same could also be said about Anise who is hated because of her betrayal and yet Alvin,Raven and Kratos but they where also betrayers but are still loved but Anise gets lots of hate she is pretty much one of the most hated characters in the entire fandom. Just bless this amazing post and this can also apply to a female from any series.
Defense of Aeris (Final Fantasy)
This post was originally made to address the debate of whether or not Aeris worked as a prostitute, and more specifically, how the hate she gets concerning this is uncalled for. There are two sides who despise and slut-shame Aeris for this: Those who use the theory to insult Aeris’ choice in work, or those who believe that “no strong woman would be a prostitute”. Both result in unfortunate implications and this post is meant to counter these points.
Prostitution, for the most part in society, is seen as a taboo. Likewise, people who participate in prostitution are looked down upon by society. Many people frown upon the idea of a person actively participating in it, stating “no one with respect for themselves would do it”. Prostitutes are considered immoral and weak-minded in a lot of western culture as well as other cultures. In Japan, there is a lot of controversy about Enjo-Kosai, and how many men claim “girls involved in enjo-kōsai will grow up to be unfit wives and mothers”. This once again creates more separation between what society considers a “good girl” and what they consider a “bad girl”. And according to the majority opinion, prostitutes are “bad girls” who aren’t worthy of respect and certainly could never be considered a protagonist!
However, there are implications within Final Fantasy 7 that Aeris Gainsborough might have worked as a prostitute. Flowers were often a symbol for oiran (prostitutes in Japan) and in fact is in the name itself: “When written in Japanese, it consists of two kanji, 花 meaning "flower”, and 魁 meaning “leader” or “first.”“ Places with oiran were also called "flower towns” and oiran were trained in how to arrange flowers. Aeris also was suggesting more secluded places in Midgar when coming across customers and even offered Cloud a free date for his protection (which is a reference to Enjo-Kosai). The debate about Aeris’ work is still going on, but there’s a lot of hints towards prostitution. A lot of people fight over this notion: Either because they find Aeris “too pure and good to do such a thing” or because they might be from an opposing ship who is using the “Aeris was a prostitute” theory to shame her. But I firmly believe that Aeris being a prostitute is nothing to be ashamed of at all, and in fact, sends a heart-warming message.
Despite the taboo over it, Aeris is given a key role in Final Fantasy 7. She is shown taking initiative and finding clever solutions to problems the group is facing. She’s flirtatious, witty, confident, and sure of herself around others. She’s courageous and planned to face down her fate with Sephiroth alone. She’s ballsy, independent, and has no problem going off on her own. She is more than “just a prostitute”; she has layers because Aeris is a complex human being. And despite how certain people thinking a prostitute could never be a “strong woman”, Aeris defies this notion by showing great emotional strength and perseverance. It’s almost as though the underlying message behind it, is that strength, spirituality, and a good heart can come from any walk of life. Being a scientist at Shinra didn’t automatically equate to a person of dignity. So why should a prostitute indicate anything about a person’s character or morals?
There are only implications that Aeris was a prostitute. But honestly, if it was revealed as canon, it would make me love Final Fantasy 7 even more. A prostitute, someone who is underestimated and frowned upon by a slut-shaming society, saving the world because of her pure heart.
GOD I could go on and on for-fucking-ever. Sometimes I’m glad some games remain unlocalized or I’m going to give myself high blood pressure if I don’t have it already trying to fight over other girls. But trust me I will fight you if I have to, I’m just getting a business degree, that doesn’t require any work so I’ve got PLENTY OF FREE TIME. ALSO I AM ARMED WITH A WHOLE LOTTA SOUTHERN COMFORT, MY BEHIND IS PREPARED, PREPARE YOURS AS WELL my life is sad #protect fictional girls 2k15
