“I’m no science teacher but somehow I didn’t think so,” Cordelia joked, attempting a small smile that instead came out as more of a pained grimace than anything as she winced.

If it hadn’t been for Wendy’s help, Cordelia would have slumped down into the wheelchair like a lead weight. As much as she tried to obey, or even hear her friend’s words, she merely nodded along with whatever was being said, barely able to focus on the nurse attending to her. With the loss of blood and expense of her magic, not to mention the sight and feel of her arm as it was being inspected, she had reached breaking point. With one last weary look at Wendy, she finally passed out.

She watched Cordelia struggle and finally accepted the fact that she had to pass out. The pain was visible in her face, and of course her arm felt like hell. She watched her slip away, as a few nurses came to help her, and she let out a defeated sigh.

“Then I’m afraid you’re in for a rather dull surprise,” Cordelia replied with a laugh as she poured some juice she had miraculously found in the fridge into two glasses and handed one over. Her hangover wasn’t likely to accept much else at that point. “You could say that,” she added, seeing the admiration on Wendy’s face. “I’ve lived here most of my life,” she elaborated.

“You must have a good life then” she remarked with a smirk. “I just live in a small one bedroom apartment, that I now pay for alone since my ex girlfriend left me” she said bitterly, before taking a sip of the juice.

Wendy nodded and helped her to the car, softly shutting the door behind her. She drove away and kept a close eye on Cordelia, wincing at the sight of her mangled arm. “How’s it feel?” she questioned, the answer obvious.

Every jolt of the car no matter how slight seemed to jostle her arm more and the resulting pain both distorted her vision and her stomach. “Not too great,” Cordelia replied, straining through gritted teeth, leaning her had against the window as the rest of the world sped by in a blur - at least to her.

She attempted to avoid any bumps in the road and drove as smoothly as possible, but this was an impossible task on the bumpy roads of New Orleans. “Keep talking to me, Cordelia” she said, worrying she would pass out from the pain.

“What about…?” Cordelia murmured, blinking slowly, her forehead furrowing as the car struck another bump. She could never fault Wendy for the state of the road, and she was definitely glad the other woman was there at all, but the pain was becoming unbearable even for her.

Wendy panicked and tightened her grip on the steering wheel. “Uh…what’s your favourite meal?” she asked, in a desperate attempt to keep her talking.

“Meal?” Cordelia echoed, as if the word were a particularly unusual one. Suddenly she shook her head a little. “I don’t think I can think about food right now..” she murmured, trying to avoid the awkward position in which she held her arm to slump forward and hold her head between her knees. “…I don’t feel so good.”

She took a hand off the steering wheel and tried to pull her up. “No, sit up straight” she demanded. The car swerved a little, but she still attempted to pull her up straight. “You gotta stay awake”

With Wendy’s help, Cordelia managed to lean back again, though her complexion had turned a ghastly shade of pale. “S-sorry…I think I stained your car…” she murmured with a sickly laugh, as blood dribbled through the fingers that held her arm.

“Don’t worry about that!” she asserted, just as they arrived at the hospital. She immediately rushed out the car and ran to help Cordelia out. “Can’t you like, do some magic stuff to it?” she said, in a desperate attempt to get her face to a normal shade again. She hated seeing her friend this way, and it made it worse that it was her fault.

“I tried…” Cordelia murmured as she all but stumbled out of the car, leaning heavily on Wendy’s shoulder, still holding her arm close to her chest where the blouse had stained red. “It took almost everything to…There’s only so much I can give…Would you rather I passed out sooner or later…?” she asked with another dark chuckle. “Though if that bone breaks through anymore it will most definitely be sooner…” she added quietly with a weary look of disgust.

"No just stay with me, you'll be fine" she said, confidently. She looked around desperately and spotted a wheelchair that wasn't being used. She left Cordelia on her own, and grabbed the wheelchair, before setting her injured friend down in it. She pushed her inside the hospital, and checked her in. "You'll be fine, Delia"

“I studied education for all ages as part of my college degree, I can teach anyone” she smirked, proud of herself. “I can help out anytime you want,” she said. “Not that you would need it, you’re probably a pretty awesome teacher” she smiled.

Anyone? Cordelia found her mind wandering again, weighing the potential pros and cons here of letting someone help for a change, after all she had been trying to tackle it on her own so long…But this place wasn’t exactly the norm the woman was expecting, and to accept her help without explaining before an inevitable incident happened… She blamed the fact she was even considering it on her hangover - surely it was too dangerous, even if Cordelia had felt run off her feet lately trying to keep the girls in line. Maybe that’s why she had let herself go so much with the drink the night before… “Hardly awesome…” she mumbled in reply, shaking her head to rest in her hands leaning on the table.

She chuckled softly; “I highly doubt that, Cordelia” she uttered. “I’ll give you my number, you look like you’re very hungover” she observed, before quickly grabbing a piece of nearby paper and writing her number on it. The school she was currently working at was becoming too much. The ciriculum was very flawed, and her staff weren’t the nicest of colleagues. A change was very much needed.

Well, that saved awkwardly asking for it. “Thanks,” Cordelia replied, still murmuring through her hands. At the same time, it was rather embarrassing that the woman could see just how hungover she was, then again she had given up the pretense of being just fine. “Sometimes I could use all the help I could get,” she confessed quietly.

Wendy sighed and looked at the now obviously un-well woman. “I know we’ve only just met, Cordelia, but would you like me to make you some food for that hangover?” she requested.

Cordelia looked up at that, once again surprised by the woman’s forwardness. “It’s alright, I’ll umm…I’ll just get something later…but thank you…for offering I mean, umm, that’s awfully kind of you considering…” she replied, feeling a little foolish as words stumbled over each other and generally didn’t help the sight of her state much.

Wendy let out a soft laugh and smirked. “I understand” she assured her. “I’ll just take off, I know you just wanna be alone right now”

Almost without thinking, the blonde shook her head. “No, no, it’s ok, you don’t have to do that,” she replied, before recollecting herself, brushing her hair back from her eyes and sitting up straight again. “Leave, I mean. You don’t have to, if you don’t…” God, Delia, what are you doing? Are you mad? The woman just came for her cat, let her go. “Where are my manners, I’m sorry, I’m not normally like this, it’s been a while…” Liar. “Did I offer you anything to drink?”

Wendy believed her and couldn’t help her natural instinct for wanting to help. “No, but i’ll have one if you’re having one” she smiled, before picking up Mittens, who was rubbing up against her leg. She cuddled the cat, and spoke warmly to it, before realising Cordelia was still there. Her cheeks flooded red, and she gently put the cat back down.

Cordelia nodded, getting up again, grateful for something to do in order to perhaps not embarrass herself more. “Anything in particular?” she asked, glancing through the cupboards for a mug or a glass spare. She turned for Wendy’s response, saw her cuddling the cat and smiled, amused at the obvious display of affection. “Sorry, am I interrupting something?” she teased.

"Surprise me, I'll have what you're having" she smiled. She took a seat and once again admired her surroundings. "Do you own this place?" She questioned.

“I think the question is how did I get so lucky” she smirked. Wendy moved her hand to rest on Lana’s waist, before stroking it softly and slowly with her thumb. “What can we do today?” she whispered.

Lana sighed softly, closing her eyes for a moment as she focused on the thumb brushing over her waist, a dizzily delighted smile curving her mouth. “Anything,” she mused, a breathless laugh tumbling past her lips. “Or absolutely nothing. We could lay right here and refuse to move.”

“Sounds perfect to me” she whispered softly, before planting another kiss on her lovers soft lips. She attempted to let herself pull away, but she couldn’t stop kissing Lana. This woman was perfect for her, and she knew it.

Wendy got up to answer the door, heels clicking against the floor. She was glad someone was finally here to help her, it had been so busy for the week she had been in her new job. “Hey” she said, with a warm smile. “You must be Mary Eunice?” she asked.

“Yes, you must be Ms. Wendy Peyser.” She forced a smile on her face, she didn’t wants to work in pair, but fuck, the salary in the end of the month would worth the effort. She take a seat in front of Wendy, and look at her with her heavenly blue orbs, studying the brunette in silence. “Anyway, today I’ve heard we’re going to meet each other, so what else do you want to know about me? We could have a tea now..” She hated coffee, but tea is always welcome of even in a coffee store is such a comfortable place to met a ‘stranger’.

Wendy watched the blonde make her way confidently into the room, which made her feel more confident about this new job. She is just the partner she needed. “Sure, if that’s what you’d like” she smiled.

She quickly walked through and looked around her new surroundings. Freaks, everywhere. She let out an awkward smile and looked to Bella. “Where do we go?” she asked.

“That large canvas awning just over there,” Bella replied, motioning to the mess tent off to their left. “If this is too much, I understand,” she added softly, a kind hand pressing against the middle of the other woman’s back, steering them both in the direction of their dinner. She stood almost protectively by the shorter brunette’s side, glancing at her periodically to gauge her reactions.

Wendy uncomfortably made her way through the people, trying not to make eye contact with anyone. She sat at the table and someone slapped a meal in front of her, in which she looked down at sheepishly. She turned to Bella and smiled. "Looks good" she confessed.
